Why does it matter? For the sake of one emailed bid we’ve made arse pay an additional £15mil. What’s not to like?
And how does that benefit us? Is that 15m going to be the difference between them being able to sign players next year (who the fuck knows). There is no way city did this just to force another team to pay more money! City clearly wanted rice.

Very interested to see who the next target is!

All this talk of pushing up Arsenal's price is absolute bollocks, though. West Ham were never going to accept below a certain price, no matter if there was a bidding war or not
I thought this time would be an exception, and City would engage in a bidding war.

Ah, I get it, good.

Barella, Wirtz, Szoboszlai anyone?
Especially the latter two can cover RW as well.

If this is true, then I think we need to set up a counselling page for a few posters on here. Some were in a state of delirium at the prospect of him coming. Or maybe it was just the thrill of the chase. How will they cope.

Its not though is it. If the club blindly pay whatever a club is asking (and inflating) we will always be paying way above market rate. The club have to retain the strength to walk away.

Making a bid that you know will be rejected while competing against a club that have identified him as their number 1 target, is pointless. Our bid was only going to make Arsenal bid more - because it wasn't really that different. More than happy for the club not to move from their valuations and walk away - don't see the point in bidding when it's not going to be accepted.

There isn't one.

A bit naive and arrogant really.

Don't think so. We probably didn't expect Arsenal to go that high. We could offer a better deal than Arsenal's latest bid, but we don't think it would make enough sense.

We value Rice at 90-95m, and we offer that. Arsenal value him at 105m, we move on.
