We need to refresh players. At least 3 hungry players. Last season it was haaland and to some extent alvarez. We saw the hunger in their games especially haaland and grealish. This season i was expecting rice to be that.
Givadiol will be hungry to some extent. I m not so sure kovacic will be that hungry since he has won f..k all. We need some exciting talent even if it means selling mahrez or even bernardo (he is my fav player though). I will be pretty pissed off if he leaves. But we need refreshment.
May be hakimi instead of walker. But i dont see walker going anywhere.
He's never won the league, which based on his interview, is the one he wants - so that's some hunger there. As for Hakimi, we've only just got rid of Benjamin Mendy.

I hope so too but I don’t think he’s got good enough defensive instincts to be a DM for us.

Gaughan’s article is clearly a brief from the club and to be truthful is hugely disappointing. Without sounding like a couch expert it doesn’t sound like there’s any clear plan. Gvardiol would definitely be a good signing. Obviously the way we play means we don’t need to replace Cancelo. We have 2 good strikers.

At the same time we don’t know whether either of our normal right wingers will be here next season. Also we were willing to spend £100m on midfielders but according to Gaughan (therefore the club) because we didn’t land either we don’t need a midfielder.

I appreciate that sometimes we have to react to changing circumstances but you also have to plan and make contingency plans.

We’ve just had our best season ever and invariably some players will be burned out and some may still move on but we should be ruthless in our dealings.

Instead we briefed Gaughan to say everything is fine and under control but the article inadvertently makes us look slapdash and lacking in any clear strategy.
Gaughans article is obviously shit then, as the club are now anything but slapdash and lacking strategy.
Let’s see where the squad ends up before everyone starts worrying

I guess things change but a few months ago it looked like we’d done all our prep work and our signings would fall into place. Some may still Kovacic did but it looks like we are now looking at a range of options and hoping that things can fall into place. Let’s hope things work out as well as they did with Dias.

We've lost the captain of the treble winning side, who scored crucial goals to win us trophies, and look to have replaced him with a player who whilst undeniably talented, couldn't nail down a place in a side that finished 12th last season and has scored a grand total of 4 league goals in the last 5 years.

That is not ambitious enough for a side looking to go all the way again.

Kovacic as added depth - great signing. As Gundo's replacement? I think it's madness.

Now, if the plan is to move Phil into that role, I'd be very happy with that. But that would leave us needing at least one addition out wide IMO, regardless of the futures of Bernardo and Mahrez.
All of that with the season only 6 weeks away and the international transfer window not even open yet.

We're fucked!

Kovacic has won fuck all?
4 champions leagues, la liga, Europa league and World Cup runner up
I think the poster has English as a second language and didn't understand that "fuck all" means "nothing" rather than "everything".

FWIW, I got the impression from his interview that Kovacic has plenty of hunger still. He didn't actually have a major part to play in the titles he's won and I think he'll be keen to prove himself both to Pep and his new teammates.

Utter bollocks. We have won the toughest league in the world 3 years in a row and you talk about our players not being hungry enough. We sell Bernardo and Mahrez to bring in some unnamed exciting talent? - wtf are Bernardo and Mahrez if not exciting talent? Kovacic isn’t hungry cos he’s won fuck all??!! - if that was true then surely he would be hungry, but he was won lots, don’t blame him for his chelsea team mates and managers. Lunatic

Gvardiol for laporte and if nobody else goes we are in good shape maybe bring in another young midfielder or give mcatee or perrone a chance hungry young players. People worrying about it maybe going flat after the treble shouldn't we will have added another young hungry player or 2 to go alongside Rico foden alvarez haaland and there players in there prime hungry for more dias ake akanji stones rodri bernardo. And most of all I bet every single 1 of them still has peps bollocking ringing out in there ears especially the players that were dropped dias stones walker bernardo mahrez foden. They won't want that again.

I think this is wishful thinking but I hope that the club are keeping any alternatives under wraps and comes out of the blue. Imagine we leverage the full potential of our worldwide CFG scouting network and pick up some cheap wonderkid from like under £20M. Brighton-esque.

Look at brighton, they bought Caiceido from Ecuador for £4.5M in 2021 and now he's most likely to be sold for an excess of £80M!!

I know experience and all but I would love us to cut the middleman and pick up these gems ourselves rather than rely on the likes of brighton to develop these players and us then consequently pay 10x the value they were originally bought for.
Yeah cos we never develop or improve players…… treble winners. 3 PLs in a row. Does anything make you happy

Wake me up when the season starts, people have lost their heads and we are not even in July.

Just to take a step back and look at the squad thats just won the treble, the only player that has left is Gundogan and we've already replaced him with Kovacic.

We need a winger. Most of the teams that play against us park the bus. It's so difficult to find space in the middle, we need at least one player with a foot on the line with pace and 1 on 1 skills. I really think it will upgrade our team even more

Lol, I love seeing replies to people I've got on ignore because it just reinforces my reasoning for putting them on ignore in the first place. And I don't have to waste time checking what nonsense they're posting this time :)

Who to believe? The poster that says that bidding for Rice and then pulling out is smart business, the poster who said bidding for Rice and then pulling out is bad because now other clubs know we have 100 million burning a hole in our pockets, or the poster who says briefing a pet journalist that we are OK and don't actually need anyone makes us look slapdash and lacking a clear strategy?

Any or all of these could be true of course, or none of them, and it's no slight on the OP, rather it's a microcosm of the transfer forum, warts and all.

FWIW, I will enjoy the ride, judge the transfer activity at the end of the window, and then again at the end of next season. The people involved have earned that over the last ten years I think.

Could be 4-5, if around 4 go (one has).
The important part is that we don't lose 3/4 close to deadline day and either 'make and do' or buy option D, E or F.

The club from what we know are very very good to our players, we need anyone who is thinking of going to be open and either go or commit to us by the end of June.

That will only happen when Mahrez decides what he`s doing?
