Pretty much agree with all of this. I'm sure we all concur Root is the far superior batsman and the best in England by some margin. You don't get to being ranked number one in the world by chance, but it's always Stokes you want in those high pressure situations. For how good Root is he should be seeing us home more often and be going really big with scores. The lack of conversions of 50s to 100s early on his career echo those sentiments. Very elegant player to watch but wish he'd have a bit more Steve Waugh type dog in him.

Agree about the bowlers too. Problem is at Headingley one of then might get a 5 for and then they want to carry on another 12 months. Neither of them have set the world alight when not in favourable English conditions. Time to move on I think.

Problem is / was he does it a lot,as was shown on tv after,maybe he won't make the same mistake again,but nonetheless it was a cunts trick which can always be expected by them,renowned as cheats,and not at all renowned as being sportsmanship people.

He should know better then . He’s got the Jordan Pickfords about him and if he doesn’t learn from this he’s a twat. He wouldn’t do it if he was facing Lyon , a spinner

I get what you are saying,regarding if Lyon was bowling,but Carey would have no need to throw at wickets as he would be stood right on them if a spinner was bowling,and the ball is "dead" a lot sooner.

It's one of them we could go on about all night,but yup I agree if he doesn't learn from it he is a twat,but will not be a big a twat as any of them in baggy green caps are.

Root has the 6th most runs in 4th innings of all time with 2 centuries, 7 50s and an average of 42. Only current player in the top 25 as well. I didn't rate him as a captain but I think it's unfair to criticise his mental fortitude when the going gets tough.

No such thing as sporting in professional sport as we see week in week out watching City.
The only thing that counts is winning while staying inside the rules.
We can whinge as much as we like but Bairstow only has himself to blame.
