Kovacic and Gvardial replace Gundogan and Cancelo in the CL squads right? So no worries right?

Wonder what the deal is with Laporte? He seemed to become less important around the time Pep said certain players were showing their arse about not playing or certain players playing ahead of them.

My view at the time was that he’d asked to leave so Pep was therefore playing the players who wanted to be here like Ake and Akanji, but now it feels like he doesn’t even have a big offer lined up. He might have dug a bit of a whole for himself with how he handled things.

Hopefully he stays imo. We could have an iron clad defense and midfield with them all together.

Always got the feeling Laporte was/is waiting for a move to Spain. He has been another success story but he is capable of yapping and not getting his head down when out of the team. Really did help us win the season before last when we had no defenders fit. Time for him and us to have a change. Bringing in a new young defender who will hopefully take over from Laporte/stones/Akanji is good planning.

He can play both positions so allows us to offload 2 players who want out. Sensible business from the club.

What was the story with Laporte and the French manager? The same sort of thing?

Probably unfair, but he always came across as a bit sulky. He is French, after all ......

I don't think you are far away from the truth mate.

Perhaps he can be one of those lads who finds it hard to hide his frustrations, but he looked genuinely upset on the final day at the Etihad?

I'd be shocked if there wasn't something out there for him, but would doubt playing in England for another club at this stage of his career.

He would smash it in Italy.
