In the last minute of the half, Ederson and Rashford went for a 50-50 on the ground in our box, but Ederson got there first and took the ball, yet in doing so he slid through with his body and wiped out Rashford, who landed awkwardly and lay motionless. Ederson threw the ball to the touchline so that play could be stopped and treatment could be delivered, yet before the referee could blow his whistle, Fernandes (who else ?) intercepted the ball and chipped it into the untended net. The referee looked at Fernandes in the vain hope that he would not ask for the goal to be given, but he shrugged his shoulders, smiled sardonically, and asked that VAR decide. The VAR adjudicator applied the letter of the law and said that because the whistle hadn't been blown, the goal had to stand. Cue uproar. As the teams trudged off, Mike Summerbee squared up to Fernandes in the tunnel and called him rude names, for which City later apologised. City went on to lose the game, everyone is more upset about the ungentlemanly conduct than the chances we missed, and for some reason we're playing them at Elland Road on Thursday...
Very good!

The only way to shut them up (Aussies) is by coming out in the next test and beating and Beating them well,
I hope the England Bowlers and wicket-keeper try everything within the laws of the game, even the bowler stopping and running the batter out for walking before the bowler has bowled,

what I have seen and i hope that the England team also picked up on, is Steve Smiths likes to pick the ball up when he blocks a good Yorker, that can be given out

We should always do this in professional sport, use the rules/laws to the maximum, in England we always try to be "nice" in sport.

We should do something like this, wait for them to be given out and the withdraw the appeal. It would just make them look even more cuntish

I have to say I was with England and Bairstow until I was reminded of this

Very subtle but important difference between the two incidents. Labuschange played a shot and the ball was clearly still in play as with any stumping. Bairstow didnt and had clearly assumed the over was finished. The umpires body language also indicated the over was complete as he had switched off. I trust you can now tell the difference ??

It needs to settle down now. It obviously came from the Starc catch. Applying the laws, both decisions were right.
Call it and move on.
Makes for a nice spicey next game

Not to mention labuschagne was batting out of his crease and therefore was gaining an advantage by negating the swing. Bairstow was not seeking to gain an advantage by walking down the pitch. The two incidents are completely different

Just something about the Aussie’s that you can’t warm to they come across as ignorant cnuts who need taking down a peg or two, what a shame stokes got out as the meltdown from those cnuts would have been epic if England had won that ..

They may well do wont make any differance still be 5 nil they are better than us.However they are and will always be shackledragging bastards Smith and Warner are a right pair
Disagree slightly, England are only losing the series because of their own stupidity. It should be 1-1 at the worst. I mean who the fuck declares on day 1 of an ashes series. Absolutely idiotic. Agree with the rest though.

Honestly the one positive I have about the series is that Australia ARENT better than England.

England have had control of both matches multiple times and thrown it away with stupid ego-driven mistakes. Aus have been really error prone and rattled. Their top order has been shocking considering their previous form.

If England just dial down the Bazball 10% they can definitely win the next 3 tests.

You could argue that the other way too to be fair. Take the point though, there’s not been much between them. Lyon being out for the rest of the series is a big blow to them too.
