Because the price has to suit us too and there has to be something in it for us, barcelona still owe us money from the torres transfer and we shouldnt be a charity to help them or any other team out, i know we have a reputation of not keeping players that dont want to stay but we have to stop giving players away to other teams to help them out, especially spanish ones when tebas has done nothing but slander us.

i believe in the fact we have given Bernardo a number to bring us and that is rumoured to be £70m?

I cant remember any specific examples but it just feels like we allow ourselves to be lowballed and dont sell our players for the true value, but maybe thats more of a feeling than relaity

If you think Tebas is critical of City, have a look at what he says about Barcelona.

He may not be a particularly pleasant man, but he's behind all the rules that are trying to stop Barca overspending. They are not friends in any sense.

Which is fine if he applied those rules across the board but he doesnt apply them to madrid which is a bit hypocritical really

Can I ask a random question? I am heading across the pond in October and want to catch one of the arsenal or Brighton matches. Is there a thread that outlines logistics for buying tickets? As I understand it arsenal will be very difficult based on priority so want to get as much info as I can so I can plan dates.

I know it’s obviously the wrong thread so thanks for pointing me in the right direction

Facebook has a page where others sell tickets

I think thats quoted number and i think thats incredibly low
Fairly sure it's a jump on what we'd let him go for previous years. He's at his peak at the moment, but he's turning 29 this year.

If you look at the transfer fees for players over 30, apart from Ronaldo, there's nothing even close to £70m. He's at the peak of his wage earning power, but likely have little resale value.

I did read that City considered the price that Rice went for as a new benchmark, but I'd be surprised as, even though Bernardo is better now, players his age don't sell for anything like the price of the top 24 year olds.

They're applied to all the clubs in La Liga.

Barcelona were just in more precarious financial shape when they were brought in. They likely dropped in revenue due to Messi leaving, and they haven't done that well in the Champions League for the last few seasons.

It's definitely not reality.

Don't go off other posters slaughtering Tkixi on here just because we've not got their current shiny new toy or sold Scott Carson for £150 million to Saudi.

why mate? If we have promised Bernardo a transfer at a set price?
IF bernardo wants to leave then yes.....If it was just a straight swap (ie neither player wanting to leave and if you are asking which player Id rather have then Bernardo hands down

He has the bigger skill set....certainly more fight....I also question FDJ personality....he chooses the easy lifestyle and place in Barca....that says something about him as a person and although it is only minor we have seen through Pep how a players personality is very important....Cancello for instance...sublime skill but a dodgy personality who was quickly binned off (not saying FDJ is poison like Cancello but more that he may not have the fight required - which Bernado has in spades with the sublime skill to match

Behave yourself, I know the club looks a bit of a disaster right now but it's Barcelona, not Stockport County. The location possibly is important to himself & his family (it would appeal to me TBF) but he's playing for one of the top teams in the world and getting paid (eventually :) ) a shed full of money all while living his dream.

Casemiro?

I miss Tolmie. I wrote a few lines to some up my feelings and this thread.

I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice. Still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone. I guess I just miss my friend.

Casemiro?
True - He'd been missed off the lists I saw.

But it's still around £70m (£60m+ addons) - so comparable to what we want for Bernardo - and for a five times Champions League winner. There was even quite a lot of talk that they'd overpaid as they were desperate for a big hitter.

Compare with Antony, at 22, who United paid a good chunk more for, without ever having played in one of the big five leagues.

That is your take on it...players like bernardo Haaland etc want to test themselves in the most competitive league. Fdj doesn't strike me as a player who wants to be out of his comfort zone....and I don't think gor one second that he isn't good enough but it's about mindset
