Growing up, when the players names started to be put on the back of the shirt, who did you have?

Playing as a defender for my junior teams my favourite player at the time……

Phelan 3

Especially after seeing his solo goal v Spurs

There were no names on shirts when I started watching City. There were no squad numbers either. Even the replica strips were a while coming in.

To go to a football match you needed to wear a flat cap and muffler. It was compulsory to throw the flat cap into the air after every goal and hope you will get the same one back.

Only ever had one put on. Aguero, and he got injured the next match and missed quite a few matches! Taught me a lesson.
As a kid, there were no replica shirts.

Kinkladze.
After Phelan I had Kinkladze 7, he signed my shirt outside the Main Stand. Due to him doing it quick some of the signature was faded.

On the way home on the 108 bus, i had a bright idea of just going over it again - how hard could it be?
Ended up looking like Chinese writing FFS

Didn't have that in the 70s.

If I could, I'd have had Bell 8 on my City shirts, esp the royal blue with red/white sash and Cruyff 14 on my Barcelona shirt that I bought on a school trip.
