i wonder what pep would make of managing the england cricket team, for a start i think he would be shocked at how bad our bowlers are with a bat in their hand and would drill into the fuckers to make an effort like he does with fooballers getting them to play in different positions.
watching some of em bat you'd think they never pick a bat up! he said he'd like to play a team of midfielders, i reckon he'd play a team of all rounders
A tad harsh on wood with the bat there fella

We've got them now and we'll go on to win the series. The Aussies aren't a team they just have a few good individual players, absolutely nothing special at all. Warner, Labuschagne, Boland, Murphy must all be sweating on their place for the 4th test. Infact the only ones I rate are Head, Cummins, and Starc

I’d bring Tongue & Jimmy back for Ali & Robinson, thought Tongue looked useful with the bat, but Jimmy is a true tailender, fact is we need to take 20 wickets, the Aussies won’t continue to Toss off their wickets like they did in this test. When has spin actually won us a test since Swan ? Especially in this country. We’d have two genuine quicks, two swing/seamers and Broad who does a bit of both, Root can step in with a bit of spin if required

A good result for England but still considerable work to do if they are to prevail. Both teams are studded with individual talent, but, in truth, neither team has put together a Test in which the majority have played to a 7 throughout. What is even stranger is that few players seem capable of playing well in consecutive Tests, nerves?. Hard to see any of that changing in the remaining two Tests, so can see this going to the last day of July.

We'd have thrashed them if it wasn't for Mitchell Marsh and his century plus score. Only Aussie who looked at all decent in the first innings.

Sorry,it didn’t quote back correctly so I deleted it

So you’d fancy our chances against any team, that’s not really saying yea we’d beat them though is it,come on now.

Every sports team in the world would fancy their chances in a game, but that’s not what I was asking was it.

The point was made to me by you and another that Australia are ranked one in the world,so I’ve asked about this current squad how they’d fare against the other shall we say mighty cricket boys,India and South Africa, and the response you’ve given me is you’d fancy our chances, and a report on Root suffering bad form from a 2020 story when he was captain.

The point about Root could be applied to umpteen former England captains by the way

We’ve got over the line today, and as I did say earlier I hoped we did,but this current squad is not filling with much confidence with bat or ball

But if you’d fancy our chances against those I’ve mentioned then fair enough that’ll do me,although I wouldn’t be as confident as you,but that’s sport, opinions, debates, and forums

So basically not much of what I wrote which prompted the response from you of me lying doesn’t really make sense at all
Not sure South Africa belong in that conversation tbh. We beat them last summer and won over there under Silverwood .... with Crawley opening and Pope in the middle order!
India and Australia are the true benchmarks particularly on their own patch. In the last 40 years we've managed both feats twice. Mid 80's when the West Indies were the top dogs and Pakistan were arguably second best.
Then under Strauss/Flower when we got to the top of the tree. Bit harsh to judge the current lot given that historical perspective. Plenty of tried and plenty have failed .... and plenty of them are now commentating!

Play every game against these gobshite convict cunts up north and we piss the ahes every time !

Great win for England. Credit to the bowlers. Some really crucial points in the game, for example,
* Woakes quite luckily getting Marsh with last ball before tea. Otherwise, the Aussies might gave made considerably more 1st innings
* Stokes and Wood brilliant batting in England's first innings
*Labuschagne giving his wicket away in second innings to start the Aussie minj collapse
* and of course the express pace of Wood and nous of Woakes
