Benjamin Pavard

I explained that earlier. That he will get game time (he's not going to be banished to whatever the modern day equivalent of the reserves). He just won't be playing every game. If he decides that that's not on, so be it. Also, there's no guarantees that the move to Bayern will work out for him. Look at Mane and Sane; two players playing at an elite level for their respective clubs, when they left for pastures new. And neither move really worked out for them. Unless you count Bundesliga titles, which Bayern generally win every year anyway. The old saying about the grass not always being greener on the other side is something Kyle might want to think about. If you believe social media, though, it looks like the move is going to happen. Which is disappointing, but it's his choice. If he does go, I wish him well.
The only thing I said was he won’t play more than last year and last year wasn’t good enough. For that reason I think he will go. Like you I wish him well. And I also agree he may not get the time he wants at Bayern either. At 33 there are just no guarantees at any top club. Cheers.

Agree. If Pep did this with Ake I think Pavard could do quite well.
Pavard defending skill is nothing compared to Ake even though they are both not very good at attacking.

Grealish just ran circle around Pavard every time we played against them from minute 1. Ake would last at least half hour against best wingers.

I remember this guy scoring a screamer for France at some tourney, thats about all I know about him. Is he good? Why do Bayern want to replace him with Walker?
He wants to leave as he wants to play centre half rather than rb- that’s the German press opinion I believe

Gvardiol/Ake
Dias
Akanji/Pavard

Stones/Rico

I’m happy with that. Glad to see it looks like we are sticking with the same formation
Very good options for our defense. Cheaply solved too.

Pavard and Gvardiol is around 110m. Cancelo and Laporte can hopefully generate 50m. Add the sales of the youth and it’s +\- 0

This is precisely the summer to go big though. Lots of departures, need to refresh the squad after winning it all and the penultimate season to use Pep’s pull to bring in certain names.
Care to tell everyone why your so certain about this?

Firstly, the obvious, that is when he’s contract ends. For all I know, he could leave at the end of next season. But he has given hints in interviews that he doesn’t plan on staying beyond that. He has been here a long time, which is already unlike him. I understand that when it is talked that he will leave at some point, people here say “why would he leave, he won’t have it easier anyway”. But that’s not how things work

His contract has always had an end date. And every time, he's extended past it. Maybe he will have had enough, or maybe he'll be totally reinvigorated by the challenge of building his third great City team.

Seems a little early to be worrying about something that's far from certain.

Would he have 9 months ago? That is the point. Ake is a different footballer under Pep. If you want a fair comparison you have to compare Pavard to the Ake we bought…not the Ake Pep developed.

So why hasn’t Phillips improved
Did Ake improve straight away? When he got into the team were you happy he was playing? No I bet but he had a great performance against Saka, he then got a run in the side. All Kalvin has had is one game in a much changed team and minutes here and there. He hopefully has his head around what if asked of him now and we will see a better player.

Whilst I understand what you are saying Ake had played in important games and performed at a high level.
Phillips just looks slow on the ball mainly because he doesn't receive it on the half turn, so is easily closed down.

These for me are genuine concerns and I really hope he kicks on this pre-season because we are gonna have to rely on him a lot more.

That’s the major concern as Rodri can’t play 55 plus games again

I don’t rate and never did rate Phillips, Pavard is just another meh signing if it happens.
