I’ve noticed a slight change in peps tactics. He’s tweaked to a sort of a 343 diamond with Kovacic and stones either side of phillips with mcattee at the tip of the diamond.

Interesting. I think it’s probably because Kovacic isn’t at the moment as proficient as gundo in the final 3rd so is seeking the maximise him by lessening final 3rd duties and allowing him to do more “midfieldery” stuff.
 
Kovacic decent thus far. Obviously, still learning our system, but he looks promising.
 
Even for Matchday Thread standard it's pretty poor in here today. Friendly in Japan, absolutely boiling, first proper kick about in a month and some of you want us beating them 7 nil. Redcafe is that way, bellends

Not to mention our opposition are fully match fit.

Webb deciding that semi automated offside aren't allowed helps Rashford gain his usual advantage.
 
It's more about his attitude. No concentration when trapping the ball from the keeper & was barely jogging back for their 2nd goal

I've said before that I don't think he's ready. Another year on loan would do him a lot more good.

I'd much rather keep Palmer in the first team. I think he'll surprise some people. He's a bit selfish but deceptively quick.

I treat this thread as a parody thread. I think many others do as well.
 
Kovacic looks the part , good half from him , not going to go into any negatives its a bit unneccesary for a friendly game after the players have had a lay off , Phillips & Akanji are the main issues looking at some comments , will judge them both in August not a mickey mouse friendly.
Palmer also looks very lively and a real threat every time he gets the ball , he should get plenty of games this season if we do not replace Mahrez and looking at his performances for the U-21 deserves more game tiime ,we will see how Pep uses him this season
 
Some good moments in this match. Kovacic looks as good as expected and a bit further forward. Phillips needs to have more energy tracking back but did well for Alvarez' goal
