Just a reminder it's a friendly, it's for fitness purposes only. Decent watch though.

What we wanted from this game ideally aside from standard fitness was kovacic to get as much time as possible on the pitch, phillips to show himself to be fit and available and the likes of palmer and McAtee to show they belong. Kovacic has been tidy enough, fully expect himnto be raring to go by Burnley. Phillips looks like he's come back earlier than the rest, looks a lot fitter than both his previous self last season and the rest of the side in their current state, he's had a good game. McAtee not been involved unfortunately, Palmer looking a step or two above him.

Let's not pretend he just proved every critic wrong.

He ran toward the goalkeeper. That was it. Been incredibly poor other than that.

This is stupid thinking, sorry, but if he "ran towards the keeper", what is he doing...?

"Pressing?", yes, pressing.

It helps to put pressure on the keeper to induce mistakes.

If he'd have just stood around, you'd have had a go for him not pressing, so what the fuck can this man do right for the haters??

Phillips did well for the goal, but he was to blame for the 1st goal (him and Akanji), lost the ball for the 2nd, and has been poor throughout (poor, misplaced passing, slow).

It appears some posters need a hate figure , Gundo , Mahrez and others all had the same its nice when the player rams it back down their throats and great for the club as gundo & Mahrez proved.

Some nice touches from McAtee-looks like he was blowing after 15-20 though. Also too close to Cole.

Control a simple pass and subsequently avoid giving away a goal?

Good to see the match thread living up (down!) to it's usual standards. It's a pre season friendly, it means fuck all in the bigger picture. We lost the Community Shield last August, the season didn't turn out too badly in the end.
