No wonder they want to do away with Old Trafford in the Ashes. Constant rain and stands made of scaffolding.
I was two rows from the back for the World Cup match when England played Afghanistan. My wife and I had to have help getting our picnic supplies up there it was so steep. Never moved for the whole of the match, but did see that epic Morgan innings.

I was thinking that of all the grounds that have been redeveloped over the years Old Trafford looks the worst of them all. The stands look half finished with no roofs and architecturally poor. Aesthetically it is not very appealing at all.

Since the Ashes series began, most days lost to weather is Sydney.

The Hilton Hotel is a huge improvement on what used to be there. Don't mind the party stand, increases chances of fans getting tickets and it's a good atmosphere.

Naming a floodlight after a cricketer is very tacky though.

Sydney has had about 30 more test matches though and those days lost do not include the 2 totally washed out tests at OT.

Alex Hartley said yesterday that it was her idea!

Nice and sunny in Notts today. The ECB don't like using Trent Bridge for the Ashes though.
Good point much less rain in Notts than over here.
But yeah, this weather. They really need to look at moving the next Ashes series to southern grounds instead.

that's exactly the ongoing debate. the 2027 series will not have either of the 'northern' grounds, but Brum and Notts will be involved.

So we can debate about how Bazball is good for Tests Cricket in getting results, But we still don't have any plans in place for an extra day because of the weather,

we all want boring Tests and draws taken out of the game, so why not have a rain-affected test that can add an extra day so the results can happen, if it rained for more than 90 over in the 5 days then add it to the day after

Fair.
t a separate note, Headingley is only an hour snd 20 from Manchester if driving and there's a load of free parking near the ground with it being in a student area. It would take me an hour by public transport to get to OT and I'm in Manchester. Getting back to town after a game is a nightmare unless you get an uber.
