Trevor Francis RIP

At the time we were truly a one man team, people went just to watch him. Although it was only a quick stop at Maine Road, he left some unforgetable memories. As mentioned by other posters, the goal against Wolves was absolutely sensational. One of the greats, RIP.

2 particular memories of Trevor Francis, The first was on a playing field at Loughborough University - where I was a student. The University team were due to play Forest Reserves and there was a rumour that Francis - on his way back from injury was going to be playing for Forest, and there he was gliding across a pitch we had been knocking a ball about on the day before. Needless to say the 50 minutes or so he played were sheer class.

And then of course his arrival at City - he had superstar status and this felt like a real coup for us at the time. His skill summed up by the goal he scored v Wolves in December - it wasn't on television, so you just need to rely on our memories - The ball came to him 25 yards out just beyond the right (attacking) corner of the penalty area - he seemed to have a defender covering him, when suddenly he spun and in one graceful movement lashed the ball into the net. The place exploded and we went home top of the league. It was joy to have seen him play and to enjoy almost one season with him in a City shirt - even if it was a bit financially overstretched.

RIP Trevor, loved watching you at City even though it was only one season. Very excited kid when we signed you , gutted when you left. So sad no age these days, gone too soon but fondly remembered. RIP Trevor

Remember his time with us with great fondness. Absolute thoroughbred of a footballer. The away game at Stoke lives long in the memory. Best debut I had seen until Sergio
