I don't know, I think it's quite a smart move.

Go get a season of first team football in a heavily scouted league, improve and learn, then his next move to a bigger club will more likely be successful.

It's a good platform for him. Going to a La Liga or PL side is always difficult with the amount of competition.

I expect he'll do well in Belgium and then get a move somewhere else.

The Belgian League isn't the worse of career moves. Plenty of Brighton's players have been signed or had loan spells and thrived in the Premier League. Kev got his Chelsea move from Genk (although that was too big a step at the time).

Yeah he was being touted around £15m-20m a couple of years ago after a breakout season at Granada. Seems he didn’t kick on after that and tbf we probably are at least partially responsible for that

He had just the one year left, Rangers get 15% of the fee as well.

A buyback clause and a 30% sell-on (which Rangers won't get any of) covers us I think.
