The Album Review Club - Week #195 (page 1310) - A New World Record - ELO

Like Indiana Jones sliding under a falling stone door, BlueHammer just makes it in with his vote before the door slams shut. After being amazed by the recent high scoring, it's back to earth with a bump this week - Songs of Her's by Her's might have too many apostrophes, but it doesn't have many admirers - just the 9 voters scraping together an average of 4.89. Thanks to @Gaudion M for a brave nomination, but he now gets to see what life is like at both ends of the table.

And that's the end of the round. We seem to have had an attack of apathy these past few weeks, and despite some welcome votes from non-regulars, we are only hovering around 10 per week. So with this in mind, and allowing for summer holidays, I'm going to put the album voting on hiatus for a few weeks.

Here's the provisional dates for round #7, but we'll try and slot @BimboBob in when he's feeling a little better.

Plenty of time for me to decide how to plumb new depths…

@threespires , I had put it in the new music thread, but worth mentioning to you specifically, for your soft spot for brass. The new Opus Kink album once again has plenty. Imo it is not as good as their previous/debut album 'til the stream runs dry' and I'd recommend that mote, but both have plenty to like.

So that everybody has plenty to listen to over the next few weeks, if everybody can PM me with TWO songs, I'll make up a giant playlist and we can listen/vote and guess as appropriate.

I'll aim to put the playlist up next Wednesday.

Any theme for either of the songs, or a total free for all?

A quick reminder to everybody to submit two tracks for the summer break playlist by 12.00 PM on Wednesday.

Got a few entries in so far, and it's fair to say that this is a "different" playlist.

Summer Break Playlist

OK, here's 30 songs to keep everybody busy for the next 3 weeks or so.

Listen, enjoy, discuss, and as usual, see if you can guess who selected each track.
(I'm glad I'm not guessing this time because this will be a tough gig!)

Send me a PM with Your Top 10 (you can't vote for your own song), and if you're brave post your guesses in the thread as to who you think selected each song.

Deadline for submissions is 12.00PM Friday 8th September.
