PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

One of the charges Chelsea have admitted to is that a players Dad was paid £600k for a phantom job as a ‘scout’.

If they are throwing around charges for that then almost every club in the league will have a case to answer.

This is very common and there are loads of similar examples at most clubs.

Similar to a case on the Der Spiegel document which stated that United paid £8m for a friendly which never took place. Friendly game was arranged as part of a transfer deal.

The charges intrinsically allege a coordinated criminal enterprise within Manchester City. As said, if (and it’s a pretty damn big if) the PL could uphold everything they’ve alleged then City would deserve the book, the gavel, the wig and the bench to be thrown and there is no doubt that the media and public would pressure the SFO to take a look. It would be one of the most high profile international fraud cases in a long time.

Now of course, its a huge hypothetical but the whole point of the reply was questioning if Chelsea accepting breaching FFP would create a precedent for City, which it won’t as the charges on the table are in different worlds.
I accept your broad point but I don't accept that the panel set up by the PL has any credibility or legal powers. City have been accused of breaking the rules of a club they are a member of. The allegations made by the PL are not charges in any legal sense. But the allegations are serious in that they imply criminality. If City did eventually end up being found guilty of fraud in a criminal court they would deserve to have the book thrown at them.
Of course if the panel rules against us the media will demand that the SFO gets involved.

I can think of a certain Piss Can employing that tactic.

It does sound like systematic payment of agent fees off the books through offshore accounts. Pretty much fraud and conspiracy. The sort of thing we were apparently getting kicked out for.

Or incomplete reporting, as UEFA calls it.
Would their auditors be guilty of these potential charges as well and if so is that actually something that is illegal rather than just offending PL FFP rules?

Well, you can hope and wish all you like. It isn't going to happen.

At least they've mentioned it. Absolutely fuck all in The Guardian that I can see but then they can't be racist about white, American owners can they?

No the Guardian are holding Newcastle responsible for all the sins of Saudi Arabia today - just as they held the Glazers responsible for Guantamino Bay!

Well, it's all just hypothetical at the moment, but I wouldn't expect the auditors to be involved in any criminality. To what extent they should have picked up the "incomplete" transactions in their audit procedures depends on how well they were hidden. If they were picked up by due diligence, you would have to say not very well, so some professional responsibility maybe.

As to if it would be illegal you would have to ask a lawyer. If what the PL apparently alleges City have done is illegal, then I would have to suggest yes. Personally, I am just enjoying throwing some of the same shit at another club that has been thrown at us for 10 years.

Well, that would depend on whether the transactions have been deliberately withheld from the accounts, auditors deliberately misled, and issues such as tax evaded. We dont know at the moment and probably never will. And then there are the other instances of "incomplete reporting" and the question of who is leaking this. UEFA, PL? I don't think so. If it's the club, they will hardly be leaking the most egregious transgressions.

when you have a brother who’s the chief scout & son who’s the agent I’m sure there’s around 99 questions you could ask about the validity of the deal’s & payments offered to family members.
And shutting down a panorama documentary on the scam.

I still can’t get my head around that they’ve found payments off the books when studying the books. I know I’m no accountant guy but I thought the whole point is you’ll never find that in the books because it’s not recorded.

Something stinks & the cover up is even smellier. I can see Khaldoon & the rest laughing as they all get deeper & deeper trying to excuse it.

I see chief Rag Simon Stone writing this has omitted to mention the Rags being found guilty but does manage to drag us into it - the vile ****.

You didn't seriously expect the slimy little twat to incriminate the fucking rags when they are the cunts paying for his pathetic arselicking services ?

He is like the pathetic kid in the class who annoys everybody who has to put up with the little ****.
