Protocol is 7 days in the Prem for concussions, no?

Foden needs to start tomorrow. This is not a game that needs control. Kovacic, Bernardo and Grealish are goal shy and this game should be the standard 0-5 beating City usually puts on Burnley.

Don’t think Phil is in the thinking for midfield anywhere near as much as Kovacic is tbh. It can only be defensive awareness or positioning or something like that that Pep wants him to improve to gain his trust. Out of possession, we press in a 442, with KDB up alongside Haaland, so the other 8 has to defend in the centre of a midfield 2 with Rodri at times, so imo that is why Pep would prefer Kovacic there to Foden. Just my opinion. So the messaging to Foden if he’s on the bench often in the early part of the season is that he must improve. Whatever the areas of his game are that Pep wants him develop, he needs to do it. I can only guess what those areas are, based on what the role requires.

Surely they only way he improves is by playing in that central midfield role?

Most of the time he’s played there he’s played well in my opinion. I feel like it’s just excuses at this point. He’s has everything to be a top class midfielder.

At some point we just have to play him there and let him develop. There’s almost a fear of him making any mistakes

Kovacic seems to have not to many problems adjusting to City playing Pep-style. Too early for Gvardiol.
So everyone knows what to do and what to expect in any position.

It’ll be a tough one and more like the 1st half when we played Burnley in the cup last season rather than the second.
Think we will win in the end though. Too much for Burnley in the end. No walk-over and definitely not a relaxing 90 minutes for us fans.

We're commencing another season with some new exciting arrivals in terms of Kovačić, Gvardiol and whomsoever else. Certainly a
3-0 premier league win over Burnley today seems a likely prospect. What's more, as always, City FTW!!!

Our longest season ever starts here. Thought we'd at least get a draw today until I read burnley have got a load of new players to bed in, will take a 1-0 tonight though given next week's super cup and game vs newcastle

Should win 5 0? What an entitled Charlie you are. I watched the first 3 episodes of the Burnley documentary on Sky last night and saw exactly what I expected - a clever and capable manager, with a hard working well organised side who would run through brick walls for him. First game back in the Prem. Mark my words tonight is a tough game. Thank fuck we have a manager who knows that

i heard yesterday that Kovacic might be inju....

anyway, park that. I would rather we didn't go with the two up top approach of the Community Shield, but rather Haaland on his own, with Grealish - Foden - Kovacic - Silva, and Rodri behind. Kev not ready i dont reckon, Palmer more minutes.

Is Ake fit?

Pep said yesterday, ‘[Aké] trained good; he's ready too’.

I'm starting to get mega excited for tonight.
How lucky are we?!
City, the best team in the land and all the world...

Good luck lads!
