Burnley (A) | Post Match Thread

Went through the motions, we are still not firing on all cylinders as per the seasons starts previpusly, but even in 2nd gear we look great

Good to get three points on the board. Not at our fluid best but it is only the fourth game we have played since the summer break. Aside from a few dodgy moments at the back that were largely of our own making we weren't really threatened. Could have done without the KDB injury and the hack on Kyle, hopefully they'll recover quickly. On to Wednesday, already.

Normal service is resumed.

Haaland a beast, Rodri impeccable.

Phillips wouldn’t get a game if we had 20 subs and fuck off Sky with the usual money jibe during a game, it’s boring you cunts!
Don't suppose they mentioned the 4 City players that came through our academy by any chance?

Unthinkable but are we starting to see KDB career at City winding down ? Seems more and more injury prone - but I suppose if you look at players we have had to let go - Aguero Silva Zabaleta Kompany Gundogan Mahrez YaYa Tevez etc we still seem to produce top class replacements

The work rate by the City players is never talked about really. But its what wins us games like tonight vs Burnley,
This City Squad has been late back to pre-season and truth be told I don't think we had a Pre-season training camp at all, I did fear for us tonight because of the game being away to Burnley and Kompany, Not because I doubted City but the fitness levels of the Burnley players and it was like a Cup final for them with nothing to lose

Great result, good control, Haaland what more can be said, Burnley will need to tighten up at the back or they will be in trouble, Rodri man of the match for me

Imagine what the Americans they had on Sky before the game are thinking. Nothing positive really and some of the fans are twats. Long way travelling for that. At times Burnley put some positive pressure on us, some good passing, but no end product. Maybe against lesser defences they might get something. We just have better players. We probably need a bit more creativity and goal threat for when Kevin isn't playing. Though Phil played okay. A bit unlucky.

And young McAtee says my time is here.

A brilliant result given we usually take a few weeks to get up to full speed.

Thought we controlled things really well, interesting that Eddie was even higher than usual as a means of making Burnley’s press weak.

Lovely to see big Erl back on the goal trail.

Lots of good things, Phil, Julian and Kovacic really good.

Yes but in real time it looked like a desperate lunge for the ball by a young lad and I didn’t see any intent there

Yeah I don't think it was particularly malicious or anything like that but at the end of the day it's a high boot with your studs up and you caught his leg and if you misjudge the force of that, you can break people's legs and that's why they try to stamp that out of the game and give automatic red cards for it

Desperate lunge or not, it was a bit high
