Haaland Record Tracker

He did hate the word Dixie. I understood it was becuse he was thought to be swarthy or a bit dark-skinned, like the inhabitants of the Deep South of the USA, whch was often called Dixie in popular parlance and songs of the day
He was therefore unhappy at being likened to a person of colour, whuch was not an uncommon reaction in less enlightened times. (I'm trading delicately here).
But that's what I was told and it is only hearsay.
That sounds similar to what I'd read altho not sure where I got the Pixie reference from !!

I remember seeing photos of him running out the tunnel for Everton and having to look twice at this dark skinned man with a perfect centre parting hair do,greased down on either side.

As another poster has mentioned earlier he was said to be a terrific header of the ball, although I believe Tommy Lawton was the best of his era.
Just think if Haaland could step up his own ariel prowess.....

Can people please not try to diminish Dixie Dean and his achievements. It's fucking disrespectful and very Dipper and Rag like nonsense.
Yep, his record should be revered, it will never be broken

Hoping Haaland starts today and if so, reckon we have a chance of seeing a double hat trick for the first time ever. Watch this space.

Despite their proximity to the trap door, the DT have begun reading from the Everton hymn sheet. They have an 'exclusive' as to what Dixie Dean would have said to Our Viking, and it includes the phrase about winding in yer neck. Thing is, Erling wouldn't have scored the goals this season had they played with that fuckin' cannonball Dixie is holding in the picture but neither would Dixie have got anywhere near the sixty he got facing PL defences. There's no comparision at all, but if it's an opportunity to denigrate anything City and their players can achieve it won't stop the RDAHMeedya making one!

Not bothered if the Viking doesnt score another league goal ,he has broke the record , he needs six more goals in the Champs league to beat FakeRonaldo's record of seventeen in a season in the Champs league , only two goals a game :)

Most goals in an English top-flight season across all competitions:

Dixie Dean - 63
Haaland - 52*

We have 5 games left, 6 if we reach the Champions League final.

To a mere mortal that would be completely unrealistic but with Haaland you can never rule it out.

If he is to pull off this seemingly impossible task, a lot will depend on how much game time he gets in the remaining league games and how much effort Chelsea and Brentford put in given they have nothing to play for. He would need to be absolutely ruthless in front of goal because you know we will create the chances for him.

It probably won't happen but if he could get a hat-trick and a brace or two you just never know. If he doesn't break the record this season I still think there's a good chance he will do it at some point during his time here.

The fact that we are so close to the end of the season and it's still a possibility is kind of absurd.

If it doesn’t happen this season, it will happen one season or another

I can't see it happening at all at this point. The last 4-5 games were the opportunity for Haaland to really challenge that record. He could have broke it in the Leeds game alone. However, never say never.

12 goals to beat Dixie Dean’s record of 63, he has 5 games - 4 hat tricks!
Just the fact that we're even feeling a little disappointed that he isn't erasing the 100 year old all-time record in his debut season, says a lot about how high he has set the bar. At least Shearer, Cole and Salah got their records wiped. Just a mind boggling season, for a mind boggling player.

I have a feeling he might absolutely unload on Chelsea, he must be frustrated that he couldn't score vs. Madrid and with the possibility of winning a first league title or celebrating it if Arsenal slip up before kick off.

Yeah, can't see it happening now either. It's a shame because as you say, had he taken a few of the chances he's missed in the last few games he probably could've done it.

Arsenal, Leeds and Madrid at home in particular stand out as games he could and maybe should have had hat-tricks in but only scored once in all three games combined.

I'm not criticizing him by the way, it's still been a phenomenal season that has far exceeded all of our expectations.

I will update this throughout the season on the first page of this thread.

A few to keep an eye on for the first few months of the season.

Erling Haaland has 38 Premier League goals in 36 appearances, 2,857 minutes (75 minutes per goal)

Fastest to 40 PL goals
Alan Shearer/Andrew Cole (45 matches)
Haaland needs 2 goals in 8 appearances to break

Fastest to 40 PL goals (in minutes)
Alan Shearer (3,454 minutes - 86 minutes per goal)
Haaland needs 2 goals in 597 minutes (299 minutes per goal) to break

Fastest to 50 PL goals
Andrew Cole (65 matches)
Haaland needs 12 goals in 28 appearances to break

Fastest to 50 PL goals (in minutes)
Alan Shearer (5,337 minutes - 107 minutes per goal)
Haaland needs 12 goals in 2,480 minutes (207 minutes per goal) to break

With the two goals today, Haaland is the fastest to achieve 100 goals in Europe top-5 league.
