and in that year he hasnt pulled up any trees, he has 1 goal and 1 assist and has been in a team that has been in a relegation fight yet his value has risen by over 30% its a fair argument that its inflated
The market has been inflated dramatically this window. The price being mentioned for him is probably similar value to that which Wolves paid last season.

I think that’s the point he was making….in this market massively undervalued at £10M
I can’t really keep up with what players are worth these days. Caicedo goes for £115m and we “give away” Laporte for £23m. Where’s the logic ?

However, on the subject of Tommy Doyle, he’s made one appearance in the City first team and had a good season last year in the Championship. How does that make him worth £10m, let alone “massively” more as you suggest ?

Laporte is 30 with no knees, no other interested clubs, and had a massive financial package offered so we took a low offer as a favour to a player who has been a great servant to the club.

Doyle is 21, English, off the back of 2 great loans and has been very highly rated since his early teens. I'd expect a similar fee to what we got for Lavia last year.

He has played far more senior matches than youngsters that we have moved on for 10 million pounds plus .

What are championship players going for tho ? I don’t know but seen plenty go for big money in the past ?

What have city players with low appearances for us or loans in other leagues or championship gone for plenty more than 10 million is there much difference between top championship and lower premier league ? But what did Lavia go for ? And what did he go for the summer before in a similar situation ?

You’ve kind of answered your own question there. The market is hugely inflated…for whatever reasons.

I could ask what’s Nunes done to warrant a 70M price tag….

My point is that if we can talk about Nunes being worth or valued at 70M then surely we can talk about Doyle being worth 20M based on his performances in the championship, being academy trained and an established England U21.

You make a fair point.

The transfer market is crazy.

How many games have you watched him play?

Several times. Played in the Euro U21 championship this summer, was very good when we played Lyon when they knocked us out and looked excellent in the other games in the champions league that season. Enough to know he's a very good player that would suit us.

Yep, if we can agree £19m (incl. add-ons) for James Trafford and Shea Charles, who are both internationals with lower league experience then £20m for Doyle isn't unreasonable.

Thing is...what do we then value Cole Palmer at?
