Sheffield United (A) | PL | Post-Match Thread

Phew, made hard work of that.
Jack got some serious stick but was very good in the 2nd half
Ederson had feck all to do and didn't do it when required...flapped at a corner, then kicked it straight to their player 5 seconds later...not his best showing I felt, should have come for that cross that they almost equalised from, had plenty time to come for it
Rodri comes up with the goods again when required
Kova and Gvardiol both excellent
Their last 10 minutes hoof ball unsettled us at the back a bit
Phil comes on and boom....made things happen
Well done City
This injury time rule is daft, one team time wastes all match then gets 7-10 minutes to get an equaliser at home with the crowd baying...that's fair

Couple of hundred miles from London actually. What a pathetic response. But it's true that a lot of the worshipping of Phil is clearly bc he's a local lad. It's tedious. (I have nothing against Phil, of course he's a great player, but he gets overly bigged up by many in our fanbase.)
Tedious? Yep some fans are - aren’t you. Patronising too

I don’t think Walker did anything wrong, it was fluky for the blunt blades, but the character he and his team-mates showed in response showed our class

I thought we did well overall. Sure, we are missing some big players at the moment (including Phil, who was not fit enough to start), and we were wasteful, but they could barely get out of their penalty box. It was a typical 11 men behind the ball type of game. They frustrated us, and the referee played his part in allowing them to do so. Overall, 3 points, happy days.

I think we can be pretty certain of that given how many chances we actually did create.

Anyway, when people say we should have scored 5, what they really mean is we had at least 5 really good scoring opportunities.
Yeah, and some of the chances involve an exceptional save from the goalie or a defender just launching himself and hoping he gets in the way!

I can`t wait for the end of season ... to see these twats back in the Championship. Horrible to play against and even worse to try and get past an eleven man wall and rely on us fucking it up for ourselves, well that nearly worked.
Blades just fuck off back to where you belong.
Whoever takes their place (assuming they go down) will be no different in their approach when we play them.

Utter domination, just have to put those chances away.

Walker wont make that backheel pass ever again lol.

Without Pep we did struggle a little bit kn those last 10 mins when the opposition switches from full defense to full attack, our players serm surprised by it and it took them a while, maybe only last few mins to remember to just pass backwards and bait their press as if they are a top team.

The fact we are top of the league is bonkers.
Not at our best against Burnley, superb against Newcastle, then too slow in the build up against Sheffield United.
We really have to step up.
Even so, it took 3 superb saves by Foderingham and a pen miss to keep them in with a chance.
It would appear that bear hugs on Eerling are now legal. If he tries to push them away, then the officials have an excuse not to give a pen. PGMOL are bent.

Three games in, nine points and only one goal conceded.

Be afraid, rest of the league, we haven’t even got out of third gear yet.

Went exactly as I predicted it, Sheffield gave their all defending got lucky for their goal, the worry for Sheffield is the amount of energy they needed can they summon it up against the teams around them? Great win for City nevertheless

Exceptional ball retention for most of the game, aside from Kyle glaring error.

Game should have been over long before they equalised but City seem to have gone to a new level in terms of mentality and restored the lead in short order.

30 shots today but not enough of them were of the required quality. Also, too many crosses didn't find the danger area.

Patience and persistence will be important once again because almost every team gets so many men behind the ball that getting a clear shot at the target is very hard. Goals will almost always come in the end due to the weight of possession and number attempts on goal but the team has to make sure they do not give the ball up in dangerous (to City) areas as that is the main hope most opponents have of scoring against us.
