It’s always doom and fucking gloom in here… Having watched the “challengers” over the first 3 games, I can honestly say that none of them put the fear of god in to me this season. They all look weaker despite strengthening and all have the CL/Europe to navigate too this year.
West Ham and Brighton currently look more a threat than Utd, Arsenal, Newcastle or Liverpool as it stands. That may well change but unless they can make it click pretty soon then I doubt it. Even with our injuries we look like we are up for it, Walker’s desire and passion to rectify his cock up Sunday should show you we are up for it regardless and want 4 in a row.
Also worth noting those stressing about not buying players are also saying said players are average and we should be playing youth… Can’t have it every which way that suits. City have had a great window so far and yet again proven we’ll not be taken the piss out of with overinflated prices or demands.
while i agree on the performances of those teams as you say, you have to assume that like we do, they will get better as the season goes on, work out their team balance (Scousers for instance with their midfield). Arteta seems to be experimenting a little at the moment - but again you have to assume that he will probably work it out at some point and their performances will improve.

Conversely, we normally under Pep start a little disjointed and then become a wrecking ball who cant be stopped -but this season we have started stronger (not near peak performance but still a lot more solid).

I think the "fear" with some people is injuries - losing KDB so quickly for a few months has only heightened that fear and losing Rodders for some of those big games (CL and Prem) would see us struggle more....just being able to rest him would be a huge bonus. You also have to factor in the Stones issue....brilliant player but you know he is going to pick up injuries through the season...so you are nearly guaranteed to be at least one player short at some point throughout the season.

Agree we have had a decent window (the additions have all been absolute class so far) - but not maybe the window that even the club expected/wanted so far?? They may have been blindsided by the Saudi involvement in the market (for instance would Mahrez have left if it wasnt for that?) ...the caveat to that is that if you stand still in football,then realistically you are moving backwards....

I don’t get this argument at all, it’s not kept on the hush by any means and any club searching our results will easily see what we have earned the previous year. It’s public information, so why not bring it up to show how well run we are?
Im convinced you’re either having a bad week or only happy when you’re miserable. I like you as a poster but the negativity is depressing at best, we are the best run club on the planet, the best club in Europe if not the world as it stands, embrace it and enjoy the ride. I’ve no doubt we’ll break records again this year and I’m highly confident we’ll grab that 4th title in a row.
We have done some excellent business and I’m sure in the next 36hrs or whatever it is, we’ll bring 1 or 2 more in. Have faith Blue, trust the club to do what they always do… We are winners on and off the pitch for a very good reason.

Lol!

Honestly mate, I am really a having a bad week. If I told you I think you and every other BM member who knows me would be gutted for me. But I'll carry on, pick myself up, and start over again. Thankfully it isn't health related.

As for the rest of your post, I'll try and get around to replying later. Out at the moment.

I’m not suggesting WH or Brighton will challenge, they’ll both fade away but both (as I stated) currently look better than Liverpool. However, Liverpool won’t win the PL this year in my opinion. It’s ours to lose I think, some will call me arrogant but I’m just confident.

Well on last weekends results how you can say that Brighton looked better than Liverpool,one got smashed,other came back from behind with 10 men !

Anyway I agree,and I'm as confident as you are,but I will stick to my guns by saying they are the serious threat this season unfortunately.

referred to as embarrasment of riches last night by some expert
I think the expert has a point tbh

Ederson;
Kyle Walker, John Stones, Rúben Dias, Joško Gvardiol;
Mateo Kovačić, Rodri, Bernardo Silva;
Phil Foden, Erling Haaland, Jack Grealish:

Stefan Ortega:
Rico Lewis, Manuel Akanji, Nathan Aké, Sergio Gomez;
Kevin De Bruyne, Kalvin Phillips, James McAtee:
Jérémy Doku, Julián Álvarez, Cole Palmer.

Bench: Scott Carson, Oscar Bobb,

Could be improved of course ;)

City may value him at a set price. Wolves value him at a set price. Wolves hold his contract. A 4 year contract. If he doesn't sign for City by deadline day he stays at Wolves for at least another season. It is up to City to either meet Wolves valuation or get close to it. City don't do that by making one low ball offer and leaving it at that so far, if the rumours are to be believed? There's posturing and playing selling clubs and there's taking the piss. Make a fair and sensible first offer, get the ball rolling, and come to a (slightly) higher offer both clubs are happy with. Player signed. Transfer business done. Pep is happy. And the team and squad is stronger and better. Fulham at home next.
That’s exactly what we’ve done though… We bid £50m knowing he just had a £45m release clause in his contract, they said no we want £60 so we met them half way. That’s where we stand, if they refuse then we move on. Yet you’re moaning about us doing exactly what you say we should be doing… City can’t win here.
It’s not a new concept City have just invented, every club asked a valuation and bids lower in the hope to save some money. The same way the selling club increase their demand showing they’ll get knocked down. It’s just how football works, bar Chelsea who are sweeping in and asking a valuation “How much?” “£60m” “hmmm… we’ll not pay a penny less than £120m” “ok go on then you twisted our arm”.
As I say we made it clear our valuation knowing they've inflated the price, either a deal is done or it’s not.
I can tell you now though, no way Doku or any other new signing after him plays until Pep is back and looked at them himself. They’ll be on the bench but they’ll not play.

I'm not dismissing Liverpool as a threat,and that's nothing to do with what happened last weekend,although Brighton looked fucked already,giddyness was starting there after winning opening two games v Luton and Wolves,soon as they came up against an half decent team they were smashed,at home as well.

Liverpool will play weakened teams in their Euro games as well,which makes them better equipped come weekends,they are a threat,not a worry,but certainly a threat.
If the scouses get a midfielder in they will be a threat...that front 3 is very decent and if they sort out the midfield position in the next few days they will be the biggest threat imho.....

If Liverpool or United signed Gvardiol, Kovacic and Doku I'd be extremely jealous tbh.
True, but if they lost someone like Kev for half a season and didn't get anyone in to replace him I'd be happy

Liverpool were lucky, they know it too. Newcastle should have been out of sight but missed some pretty easy chances to put them to bed. I also said over the first 3 games not just last weekend.
The way I see it, everyone’s improved but there’s 3/4 teams now all around the same standard who will take points off one another. Meanwhile we are still a few steps ahead and as long as we beat them I see us winning it with several games to go by a decent points margin. Our drive is to beat ever record possible and that’s wha5 we’ll try to do.

Yea,but they got to act quick,as in 48 hours quick,because the 200m they get off Salad can only been spent in January at the earliest otherwise.

Now that would be funny,he goes after our window shuts,I'd piss myself.

One thing is sure and that is the club are in for a ball carrying central midfielder so if we don't sign Nunes and we can't get someone else in before close of play on Friday then we will have failed in that objective.

How costly in terms of success or lack of in the coming season that failure might be we'll only know in around nine months time.

If Wolves were to get circa £50 million for Nunes there would be fan pressure to spend that money. However, they are skint. The likelihood is that if it happens Wolves will allow it to happen so late that they conveniently won`t have enough time to re-invest within their squad.

Not sure, but I think this happened to us when we sold Wanchope and Anelka late in the transfer window.

Liverpool won’t be challenging at all. They have a very good attack but defensively they are shocking and midfield is so lightweight it cannot compete. Chelsea dominated them, bourmouth caused them all sorts of problems and Newcastle only have themselves to blame for not beating them easily.

I’m sure they will click, but as I said unless it’s soon they’ll get left behind. Utd play Arsenal Sunday, if that’s a draw and we win again then we are 4-5pts ahead already after 4 games! It’s not a league winning lead by any means but sends a message.
We should easily win our next 4 games, they all play each other soon so our gap could increase. I believe Brighton, West Ham and Spurs will take a fair few points off the others.
Theres 3 tiers in the PL, Man City, then the other challengers then everyone else. It won’t always be like that of course but it’s how it currently is and this is the season to send a message by breaking all the records again and going for 6 trophies.

Yeah heard that rumour last night......I just cant see the scousers doing that even if a crazy bid for him comes in....but it would be extremely funny

If's,but's and maybe's,yet they sit in 4th with 7 points to their name unfortunately.

Next 6 or7 games or so we shall see where they are at,but looking who they have to play in them next 6 or 7 well,I don't see many problems for them at all.
