Completely. Was ineffective first when pushed in the gundogan slot but flourished in The second when dropped back. Plays so much better when he has pitch ahead of him.

I had my doubts when we first signed him as he struggled to get into a poor but expensive Chelsea side.

Man he's the ideal Pep player, so intelligent and rarely loses the ball, he's gonna be huge for us over the next few years.

Just need a goal or two now to take him up another level.

Every player’s score was dragged down by the system we deployed in the first half; it would have been generous giving higher than a 5-6 to any player, or the coaching staff. By contrast, reverting to a more familiar system after the interval saw everyone’s performance improve.

Given the general technical excellence of Croatian players, I’m a little surprised that we haven’t sought to find a club there that we can tie into the CFG.

Not at all, the only thing Rice has over him is that he's younger

From the evidence of the first few games of the season you'd think Kovacic cost £105 million and Rice £25 million

Rice is half the player.

Gundo wasn't a goalscorer before he came to City. Four goals from 48 starts at Dortmund and it was Pep who brought the best out of him. Who says Pep won't do the same for Kovacic?
