Finance director for the entire BBC?

Could be just the person myself and @casserole of nonsense are looking for with regards to providing answers to our queries regarding the justification, both financially and from a sports news perspective, for the BBC to send slimy Simon all the way out to Madrid to cover Greenwood's debut for Getafe

I made a complaint to the BBC about this: why is it newsworthy, the ethics of it given what we know in the public domain he did, and who signed off within the bbc to fund the trip

I’ll let you know what they say

Got my response below. Usual fob off and I will be replying.

Thanks for getting in touch about the BBC Sports website report at https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/66838129.

I note your concerns with the content of the report.

As a BBC Sports reporter, Simon would be expected to share an analysis. The Mason Greenwood story was one that drew widespread interest across the country and as this was his first match since the allegations emerged, then we included it in our coverage. Being there can also enable us to assess his performance after what has been a lot of attention on the player, without relying on third party information. Yet, we appreciate that not everyone will agree on the matches covered.

With regards to the licence fee, we can only assure you that we wouldn’t try to misuse it, although views on spending can be met with subjective opinion. We do offer more information on spending via the public BBC annual report and accounts site at:

https://www.bbc.com/aboutthebbc/reports/annualreport

That said, we do value your feedback about this. As all complaints are made available to senior management and sport editors, we’ve included your points in our overnight report.

These reports are among the most widely read sources of feedback in the company and ensures that your concerns have been seen by the right people quickly. This helps inform their decisions about current and future content.

Thanks again for getting in touch.

That reply goes to the very heart of why the BBC stumbles from one crisis to another- they are wholly incapable of ever admitting they did anything wrong. They have a culture of denial and closing ranks and most alarmingly; outright lying seems to come very easily to them. I had a long dispute with them over the Pete the badge wrongdoing - and they all out lied at a very senior level.

Interesting listening on 5live tonight regarding De Zerbi. Gium Balague said De Zerbi turned down Spurs pre season and he's not interested in going to Barca or Real, because he wants to stay in the Prem. He reckons Pep is good friends with him and City may have already lined him up for Peps successor.

It'll be horrendous when Pep leaves but I've got full confidence that we'll get in the best replacement we can when that happens.,because we're such a well run club.

Unlike the rags.
He did ask for Pep’s advice on whether to work in the Prem.

I think if he asks for advice again. Pep will tell him to leave Utd alone.

I’m not sure which club are in a better position than Brighton at the minute.

I went down the Newswatch route with the same two complaints - why newsworthy and why send a correspondent, received generic response:

“Thanks very much for getting in touch with Newswatch. We will contact you if we are able to take your comments further; alternatively, your views and name might be included in our weekly round-up of emails and calls, or kept on file for us in a future programme.”

Also worth pointing out that the decision to send Stone would have been made before any certainty that Greenwood would feature at all in the match.

Ask if they sent one of their so called top reporter's to report on Benjamin Mendy's debut for Lorient? A man who spent God knows how long in prison, only to be found not guilty at the high court. In the grand scheme of things, the Mendy story is far bigger than the Greenwood story.

The only reason Mendy spent any time in prison was because he ignored his bail conditions. That part he brought entirely on himself.

Caught one of the boys watching this just now.
The South Korean version of Mark Goldbridge.....

All that's missing off that video is the sound of his long suffering parents banging on the door asking him to keep it the fuck down.

Ronaldo was a massive problem for them. He had to go. But Ten Hag didn’t freeze him out, in fact he made him captain. Ronaldo made his own position untenable with that interview with Morgan. They are miles better off without him. Still shite mind
Exactly.

It's amazing how history gets rewritten by the rags and their sycophantic client media.

Ten Hag didn't get rid of Ronaldo at all, he desperately tried and failed to get him to stay at the club.

It was Ronaldo who wanted out and forced his way out.

She wouldn't, that decision would have been made at an editorial level and would have come from a specific budget. My wife's pretty amazing but I'm not sure she would be capable of being across every single penny spent in the BBC!
I'm sure it goes without saying that it's outside of her remit to decide what is news worthy. She's great with a spreadsheet but not so good at recommending good movies to watch ;)
TBH what your talking about is insignificant in the grand scheme of things. For example when a news story breaks the BBC don't send just one journalist they send one for news, one for BBC news, one for radio 1, radio 2 etc. one from local news etc. etc. etc. That shit happens every day so sending just one journalist to Getafe really is small fry.
My wife introduced the value "more money for programmes" so if savings are made on non-content that is subsequently spent on programming she's happy.

Ask her if she can use the filter on her spreadsheet & see if any clubs pay for travel expenses for journalists.

;)

What did he say? Being that you've been on Eggheads and all that. Not a lot of people know that

BT Sport didn’t even send commentators to the London Stadium for West Ham’s home game in the Europa League last night. They were clearly in a studio watching the game on a tele. Yet the BBC sent Stone to Madrid to watch Mason ‘open your fucking legs you twat I want to fuck you’ Greenwood?
