Nottingham Forest (H) | Sat 23rd Sept | PL | Post Match Thread

I'm not saying I think it should be allowed, I just struggle to understand the reasoning to why the rules say its an offense thats a red when it could be a yellow. If he grabbed his throat, lifted him up and threw him into the ground sure, but touching the throat 0,1 seconds not injuring him at all (even if Gibbs-White pretended it did) seems a bit silly to get a red + 3 match ban from, a yellow should be enough in my opinion. Kicking away the legs on someone from behind is far more dangerous and barely a yellow, why should an action that doesn't endanger the opponent at all be a red? These are grown ass men, not 3-year old kids. I understand the rules say different and that Rodri should obviously act according to current rules, but football today is so f*cking soft it makes badminton look tough. Just my opinion :)
But if it was a yellow we’d have more people grabbing throats. Perhaps a red and one match ban would be more fitting

Once again Pep is spot on. Taylor changed the nature of the game with poor decisions but Rodri, great player that he is, should control his emotions. Interesting to hear Ireland rugby coach and City fan Andy Farrell comment on his team after they beat South Africa yesterday. "We have got very good at not being too emotional and staying on task."

Anyway another great win showing the world that this team can get results in more than one way.

According to that fount of all wisdom T Sinclair on Talksport, Brandon was sent round to remind Eddy that he had already been booked and shouldn't take too much time with goal kicks; just in case Alty Anty fancied us having a go with 9 players.
No danger of Eddie being booked as he wasn't wasting any time. Forest were so poor much of the time that Eddie knew there weas more chance of us getting a third than them scoring one. I think that great save came in stoppage time and was their first meaningful shot on target.

We’ve got kids like Oscar Bobb & Rico Lewis who look more comfortable on the ball than Kalvin…….
Established England international Kalvin Phillips you mean? He certainly hasn’t done well at City, hasn’t worked for him, yet at least, but some of you lot need to give the lad a break, fucking hell. He played well for England in Scotland, and he did ok when he came on yesterday. It’s really poor the shit he’s getting, any mistake highlighted, anything good ignored. There’s always been scapegoats (Crossan, Power, Edgehill, Mahrez, Phillips etc) and it’s always been pathetic.

But do refs apply the same 'timewasting' criteria across all teams. We've seen goalie after goalie at The Etihad taking the piss from the first goal kick, and 87mins later he gets booked for serial timewasting. The crowd howl in protest after the second thirty second goal kick and the ref, with his back to the play does fuck all. And what time was it when Eddie got booked for slowing down his goal kick? Long before the 87th minute.

Just wanted to come on and say I've been very impressed with Nunes. I don't watch as much of other football teams due to the kids mithering the fuck out of me so I'd not seen much of him plus he was getting pelters from a lot of posters in the transfer forum so I'm glad he's had a good start.

If a player plays for Manchester City he should, in my humble opinion, get 100% support from City fans.
He/she plays for us we support them. Old fashioned opinion I guess.

Every club fans base in the history of the game have always had a scape goat it's sad but it will never change! Philips did have a run of games end of last season he did ok but the results performance did drop! Pep has watched him in training coached him now for over a year and has hardly played! Now the best manager ever must see something in him he doesn't trust? He will play in the cup game midweek but I expect him to be benched for the Wolves game..

Done a search and couldn’t find a reference so apologies if it has been discussed already but does anyone know what was going on with one of the backroom staff (think it was Brandon) running round (and on) the pitch to give a message to Ederson?

Second half, I think it wasn’t long after the red card if I remember rightly.

The way I saw it, he may have asked Eddie to aim for Haaland from the kicks, as his two/three previous kicks went to Foden who was easily beaten in the air to lose possession . After the message every one went to the big fella.

The other explanation of avoiding a booking also makes sense, so who knows?

Thought this myself as he did immediately aim that very kick to Haaland.
