Your top 10 tv shows of time that are not expected to be by others

The Big Bang Theory
Young Sheldon
Maigret (Rowan Atkinson)
Maigret (French Version)
Maigret (Rupert Davies)
Poirot (David Suchet)
Sherlock Holmes (1939-46 Basil Rathbone)
Sherlock Holmes (1984-94 Jeremy Brett)
Dickens (Old BBC films, not modern rubbish adaptations)
Frasier (1993-4)
Let me guess. You're a fan of Maigret.

I enjoyed Fringe not seen it in years, time team and scrap heap challenge were class.

Currently watching Fringe for the first time and will probably be firmly in my top 3 when it's finished. Absolutely brilliant TV

They don't really do that that often. This scene is fantastic...

Rik was the greatest comedian this country has ever produced in my opinion. Nailed absolutely fucking everything he did. I was completely devastated when he died. Taken far too early.

It might be a reflection of the intellectual standard of your average BM poster but it seems many have interpreted your brief to mean simply their favourite TV shows of all time and conveniently ignored the '...that are not expected to be by others' bit.
Or maybe I've misunderstood your original post and I'm the thicko. Equally possible in fairness.
no you are correct

Really grateful to you Sam. I'm always on the lookout for a dark foreign language drama. Will check out the ones from your list I'm yet to see.
Just to add a bit of description, if you really bother watching some of those shows. :)

L'engrenage - France - translated here as Spiral, the whole French police and judicial system, really the best with some of the best TV characters
Borgen - Denmark [political drama, great show]
The Bridge - Denmark [procedural police drama, refrain from watching American crap version]
Hinterland - Wales [procedural police drama]
Cardinal - Canada [procedural police drama]
Dark - Germany [sci-fi, totally crazy]
Six Feet Under - USA [drama]
Beck - Sweden [procedural police drama]
Herrens Veje (Riding upon the storm) - Denmark [drama, a great show]
The Sinner - USA [procedural police drama, bot not your usual C5 crap]

Apart from Dark and Six Feet Under, which is an older show, you should be able to find everything on BBC iPlayer and one of C4 channels, hopefully.

It's an interesting point.

Off the top of my head, the top ten shows I've never watched - not five minutes between them;

Dexter
Succession
The Last Of Us
The Handmaid's Tale
This Is England
The West Wing
Downton/Broadstairs
Narcos
Community (probably right up my street)

Probably going to look up the last two right now.

Think I’m the only person in the world who thought the last season was epic and brilliantly done.

It was epic. It should have been over two seasons though, I thought they rushed it, the pacing was way off compared to the other seasons and the character arcs and writing both suffered as a consequence. I thought it ended exactly how it should have done, it should have just taken more time getting there.

I’m pretty sure the thread title has changed since a few posted in it to be fair! It definitely didn’t say “that are not expected to be by others” when I posted my list

Fair points, did feel rushed and wasn’t as well written as previous seasons but no way did it deserve the stick it got.

No it wasn’t as bad as people made out. Think that was to do with what went before it being so good though so it was a comparison to itself being done. I watched it again not long ago and it really did feel it was on fast forward. There was a clear point for a split into two seasons too that would have allowed all the storylines and characters more time to develop properly.

I’m still not sure what the rationale was to make it one season tbh

Buffy the vampire slayer
Roald Dalhs Tales of the Unexpected
Antiques Roadshow
Happy Valley
Äkta Människor (Real Humans)
Being Human
Outnumbered
Yes, Minister
=Starskey and Hutch
=Dukes of Hazard

1 & 2 are 1 & 2 the rest are not in order
There is another one in Sweden which I really like watching but most won't have heard of called "Målet är målet", the goal is the goal, where a former player from IFK Gothenburg, Torbjörn Nilsson, and a coach from Malmö FF, Martin Johansson, train crap kids teams for a season.
