Stadium Developments thread - New Birmingham City Stadium revealed (p57)

Interesting looking at those pictures, that we have to remember that the Anfield pitch is below Uefa's recommended pitch size. From an old article about them not being able to have England games there:

"Anfield's pitch size has counted against it with UEFA rules stating that pitches must have fixed dimensions of 105m by 68m. The Reds' playing surface is just 101m long and cannot be extended due to the closeness of the stands at both the Kop and the Anfield Road end".

And this:

"The Football Association (FA) set the legal range for a pitch to be between 90m-120m in length and 45m-90m in width."

It's very strange that they wouldn't be able to play Euro 2028 games at Anfield because of Uefa rules, but Uefa seem happy with Anfield for the Champions League. I'd say they should give Liverpool a number of years to get their house in order. They could get rid of the first few rows at each end to make the pitch longer and could easily install screens.
Bournemouth can squeeze a standard-sized playing area into the Vitality, Brentford in theirs too. Clearly the weight of all that ‘istree makes things more difficult at Anfield.

Most PL grounds in fact are standard size.

This piece was written by a Liverpool fan who doesn’t mention how his team are allowed to play UEFA-organised football on a small pitch. It was also written in a bit of a hurry too, because it has a banner stating that Sheffield United play at the City Ground…

If those twats were further away from the pitch, it would take away from the 'intimidating' atmosphere that swings games in their favour. The abuse given to players taking a throw in or corner or officials, is crazy. And it isn't all part of football.

It's a testament to the lack on investment in clubs that, even those with new stadiums/stands there still isn't enough room to put in a decent sized pitch, but the PL will pander to certain clubs.

I'd make em put a running track in, but they would have to kick out a few more residents to do that.

Just found this in the Uefa regs. Looks like Anfield does qualify as an ok pitch size for club competition as it seems to be classed as category 1 or 2.

Doesn't qualify for international competition because I guess they only want 'Elite' stadia for that.

Astounding how Liverpool have been allowed to significantly increase capacity without a requirement to increase their pitch size dimensions to the current standard uniformly applied by most PL clubs, let alone UEFA criteria.

Also unfathomable why screens have not been required to be installed by them and United when they have undertaken increases in capacity, especially as these are amongst the largest grounds?

They wouldn’t last long if they did install them. Every other house in Bootle would have 26ft 4K TV’s

Looked on this thread for the first time in a while and all I see is posts about the Dippers, their feral cousins and Real Madrid who are also a set of wankers. Amy chance of City updates?

Yeah, mate.

In the City forum within the numerous City expansion/campus threads.

Not in the general football forum.
