Two minors suspended by club for offensive chanting at Brighton game | 17 year old charged by GMP (p29)

Anyone who went away in the bad old days, I refer to our prowess on the pitch, (eighties to naughties) will remember and probably have sung (particularly in the pubs prematch) songs deemed distasteful then and against the law now. I’m thinking “dig up…” “how many di…”
I did but wouldn’t now. However, I am now a FOC and know better - and smartphones, social media etc. wasn’t a thing back then. Thank fuck!

These are 2 match going children who, like many of us at their age, did things they now regret. Might have something to do with the fact that their brains aren’t fully developed yet due to their age.

Some of the moral outrage on here is outrageous. I can’t make my mind up if some of them are City fans. They certainly couldn’t have been following City away in the old days. They need to give their heads a fuckin’ serious wobble. They clearly don’t understand the concept of empathy.

I feel really sorry for those kids and their families and even sorrier that society can react in the way that it has. “Sticks and stones..”

It’s bad enough when it’s clearly pushed by the Red agenda. We don’t need blues talking shit as well.

I appreciate the WOKE brigade will take offence to this post so I will end by saying that I think you’re all deluded wankers and brainwashed sheep who follow whatever the powers that be tell society to think.

I won’t be replying to any comments on this post. Oh, and it’s Dinner, Tea and Muffin.

Let’s hope we are impeccable tomorrow and smash those horrible Cunts.

Seems to me, Rushdie = the three lads, the book publisher = the guy who posted the tiktok and the people offended are still too far removed.

I wonder if they are being heavy-handed as part of a crackdown on "antisocial" behaviour at football grounds ..... and it will all blow over now the point has been made.

But also nothing Rushdie wrote was threatening or objectively abusive. So the offence would not be made out in any event.
 
Now not saying what the 2 young lads was anyway right it wasn’t,but come on surely this goes on every week at games maybe not so much being recorded and stuck on social media,but ffs come on have the police not got better things to be putting time and effort into,finally to put the shoe on the other foot would there be such an outcry and police involvement if it was 2 rag kids doing the exact same chanting about an old city player..

Our club and football in general won't be happy until they've eradicated every ounce of passion and rivalry in the game. We'll then be left with tourist fans who film everything and take selfies all game. They won't support either club but will politely clap every goal by either team and be no threat to anybody. The club's will then be crying there's no atmosphere and asking what they can do to improve it. By then it will be too late. All the old heads will have died, been banned or lost interest. Their kids will see this and follow suit. "Football? Nah don't go anymore. It used to be fun but not now .It's too expensive, my dad got banned for swearing, me and my mates got a final warning for giving wanker signs to Liverpool fans who were throwing coins at us. It's not worth the hassle anymore." We got a taste of this at the charity shield. The writing is on the wall.

It appears there’s a law preventing their stupidity too, sad that others have done same thing and got away with it but that’s life most of us will have got away with something others get caught for. I’ll be dead honest singing that was pretty sick the guy played for Utd so what it was 50 years ago, he was a fellow human being. I’ve met him he was ok even had a bit of a crac when he ask for a brew and got it in a City cup.

People aren't arguing that it was the right thing to do, what they are arguing about is the double standards considering this happens mostly everywhere but yet again they focus on us, in this case a few young arseholes.

Heavy handed stupidity from the officials and aided and abetted by our own club, it's shameful.

It may seem like only us all time cos we take an interest, pretty sure Utd have the most banning orders in place. Maybe cos they have bigger crowds dunno don’t follow them that closely.

Could be the case mate, but this isn't the first time the club have immediately supported anyone but the fans, that's the way it looks anyway.

Respect has to be freely given, not compelled, people must come together willingly, not threatened, coerced and policed.

If it's deemed okay for two daft pissed up kids to be slapped by our club and the coppers for not complying with the new puritanism, then fuck compliance.
 
The top hierarchy at the club who make decisions, directors upwards, as far as I know, do not have any previous connection with the club. They have been brought in as maybe specialists in their field with the sole intention of growing the business/brand. They have no prior engagement with the club no knowledge of the years of vitreol and huiliation heaped on them by fans of united. To throw the full book at two minors, police involvement, media onslaught, public announcements whilst ignoring other more serious issues in and around the Etihad and other stadiums has been done because it is an ex united player and a media darling club. As others have pointed out, just read Jonathan Liews articles on Silva/Mendy and his tv appearance discussing garnacho and onana. Unless he has been on a fact finding course regarding race relations, which I have not seen him mention, then he is just another journalist seeking clicks, as they all are these days. As I said in a previous post a few weeks ago this is all blown up by one thing and one thing only

I’ll stick this in here it’s sort of relevant but also off topic,the club sent a survey to be filled in by email,had a number of questions but it got round to offensive language and asking had I heard any while attending a game,ffs who hasn’t heard industrial language at a match be it City or any other game,I added a few comments on this saying it didn’t bother me depending on what was being shouted or spoken,basically I mentioned that the f word was mostly what I heard and in the heat of the moment sometimes people spurt this out,I hope they aren’t intending cracking down on this as yes I can understand if someone has kids nearby but ffs come on some see it as a bit of passion when either cheering the team on or showing frustration with something on the pitch ..

If they crack down on that they’ll be nobody left in the ground, will they have a squad of interpreters for European nights to catch the swearing tourists.:-)
