Fireworks

Not too bad where I am.

Admittedly I've been away Friday am to mid evening Sunday but prior to Friday only maybe 4/5 bangs apart from a show at the local football club but that is advertised well in advance so an opportunity to knock your pets out.

When we returned home last night around 19.00 by 21.00 it was near enough over.

Our cat passed away last week 14 years we had her but she would hide behind the couch at the sound of fireworks. Thunder too I knew when thunder and lightning was coming when she hid behind the couch.
Sorry to hear that mate. Yea ours hates storms and we'll know when heavy rain shower due as she'll head towards the bed

Cannot understand the attraction of fireworks in the slightest, except possibly for the under 7s. As someone put on here - setting them off is a selfish thing to do. Putting your gratification above that of everyone within a half mile radius.

You’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all.

Personally, I think the best firework is a sparkler. And I haven’t had used one since I was about 7.

Sick of the fucking things just about got my dogs settled. Some bastard set two what sounded like mortar shells off at 2:50 yesterday a pox on all their houses.

Yes there's always some **** seems to find it hilarious to do that, same around here. I would honestly wait until they've finally gone to bed and put a fucking house brick through their window if I could locate them. See how funny they find that.

Bongy, if you don’t mind;) Similarly it’s a barm.

If you mean sales to the public fair enough I agree. If you mean ban fireworks then that's nonsense.

I think it’s time for a ban on sales to the public and organised displays only.

Just require a license, make the license dependent on a theory test like driving licenses. Maybe limit their use in dense neighbourhoods.

I don’t think fireworks are dangerous enough to the general public or cause enough environmental damage to warrant a complete public ban, if someone wants to let some off in a field and they’ve shown enough competence to be trusted, let them.

I agree with that.I don't actually know where I could buy fireworks to be honest, used to see them in newsagents, supermarkets garden centres, last year or so non of those places where I live sell them.

Then it's nonsense. They serve no purpose whatsoever and cause so much unnecessary suffering to many particularly animals
Organised displays don't cause much suffering at all, and if they are organised people with animals know they are happening and take measures (many people with animals don't seem to have any problem). There was one in my town last night, haven't heard any animal owners complain, only complaints were over parking issues.Thousands enjoy a firework display.
I have no issue with them being limited to organised advertised displays and banning sales to the public.

Fireworks are a fucking pain licensed display or not , the animals are affected anyway , i am lucky that merlin isnt bothered by them , bit of a jump at the first one then goes back to sleep, silva was terrified to the extent of getting stress related cystitis

One of our cats doesn’t mind as he’s a little bugger, the other one who is twice as big is shit scared and hid for most of yesterday as they started going off about 4.30pm. I locked the cat flap and they couldn’t understand what was going on. It carried on till past midnight, wankers
