Irish Current Affairs

It's a supergrass case trial mate. They should be arrested or at least made take off masks never mind in court but walking down the street. Following news and 'word on the street ' it's rising in both sides and still just below the water as such. IMO it wouldn't take much to kick off again and both sides getting 'funding' for 'community projects' which is keeping them sweet. I know some unionists/loyalists not happy at the cost and actions at Bobby Storey's funeral. At same time I've friends who lost their mother and couldn't have a proper funeral. Only 8 at wake and had to social distance etc.
Worrying times OB.

Very much so mate. Having idiot politicians on both sides who don't care about main issues like care, education, housing, social needs. Too many think of themselves or how to stop 'the other side'
Need Stormont up and running.
Are they getting paid to do nothing.

The issue about Storming is that the DUP stood on a manifesto that they wouldn't go back into the Assembly while the Irish Sea Border remains.
They achieved a mandate for this position, and are sticking to it.
Since 1979, Republicans have stood for Westminster on a "abstensionist" ticket and have risen from one MP elected in a protest about conditions for murderers in prison to being possibly the largest party in Northern Ireland, and abstensionist politics has been used on the island for over 100 years.
A video has gone viral up here this week of a millie ranting and raving at a 65 year old woman sitting behind a table selling poppies and poppy crosses for the Royal British Legion (before going off on a rant about Israeli goods).
This has since reached GB "News" and is being used as "what a shared society" will look like.
The saddest part is that in the video, about 5 or 6 young teenagers in the school uniform of the local Catholic Secondary school are clearly shown, and what type of message does this Karen send to them?

Glad to see that Josef Puska got served justice. A complete embarrassment of a man to put the victim's family through that bullshit at trial.
Indeed.
Changed his story about three times and took the stand to defend himself, giving up his right to silence. That usually signals guilt to us, not always of course.
It was obvious from the very beginning though and thankfully the jury didn’t take much more than a couple of hours to deliberate.

Thanks for that @law74 I am always genuinely interested to get a current perspective from the North.

He went with the aul 'I was telling lies back then, but im not telling lies now (honestly)' story. It was a ridiculous and bizarre story

Not to nit pick, but he did immigrate to ireland 20 years ago.... So he is an immigrant.

Ah those poor disenfranchised misunderstood souls. Not only do they get labled far right for having a bit of common sense, but it then turns out, they were actually right to riot, based on a linguistic technicality! Oh the injustice.

Leo Varadkar steps down.
What's that all about?
Lost a referendum on constitutional changes which some parts proved controversial.

A good example of the dangers of overreach in written constitutions. Societies change and the more prescriptive a constitution is, the more out of line with practice it becomes. Why define the family in the constitution?

It was a weird one.

I couldn't wrap my head around the proposed definition of family.
