It's just, it looks like bad PR. It is bad PR, no matter what. I mean, I want to say it is.

But people fuck up when they say things like 'why is it so light?'. That's all I'm saying. It's not an argument. It's more like the early stages of conspiracy. Leading question, "don't believe your eyes". Jesus. I'm learning not to expect better of the internet and especially twitter. But it's depressing to see it make monkeys out of people who insist they are winning.

Other thing is it probably isn't bad PR, because that will get hundred million shares and spread through the network to people who won't judge it "skeptically", and thus will have a net positive PR effect for Israeli's.

Secret rule of dodgy PR, dealing with liars and those intent on misleading us via social media internet is, remains, don't highlight it. Don't share it. Outside of how it feels within your sphere, you will only make the problem worse.

If we don't hold ourselves to higher standards we are just lowering the bar in general, and spreading the conditions for conspiracies that will work against us. I won't hold my breath - this is going to take a long time for people to come to terms with.

Yep it's important to weigh up not just the size of the box but the weight and fragility of the contents .... I do that shit every work day. Hardly the point is it?

Any thoughts on why choreographed shite like this makes the cut given what we were promised?

I’d argue the defenders of Isreals policies have stopped posting because this thread has become a bit of an echo chamber. I think what Israeli is doing now is wrong as I do for what Hamas are doing.

It’s the same posters posting all day every day. Id also say it reflects wider society - most people whilst concerned don’t really care as much as some on here. Most posters aren’t posting on this thread either.

Peace is the only way forward, but I’m not sure how it’s possible.

It’s possible when the pay masters say enough is enough in this case it’s the US and certain Arab countries and Iran

They are both key to this, but so is the EU, as it’s a huge export market for Israel, countries like Qatar need to channel their energy into constructive peace rather than regional conflict

With enough will peace can come about, and both states can be shining lights of freedom in the world

National Security Council to discuss Ben-Gvir's death penalty law for terrorists​

The National Security Council is set to discuss proposed legislation that would allow Israel to impose the death penalty of terrorists, an official involved told Haaretz. The NSC will convene next week for a preliminary discussion on the proposal, which is being promoted by National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir (Otzma Yehudit).

The discussion will examine Ben-Gvir’s proposal and its possible ramifications on the international stage, given the possibility that the far-right minister will present his proposal to the cabinet. The bill was given preliminary approval by the Knesset in March this year.

According to the proposal, courts will be obligated to impose the death penalty on anyone convicted of killing an Israeli citizen in a nationalist act. The wording of the law, however, states that the death penalty is only applicable to Arab terrorists, since it specifically defines such acts as those that “have a racist motivation and have the goal of harming the Jewish people and the revival of the Jewish people in their homeland.”

After the bill was approved by the ministerial committee on legislation, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wrote that “our response to terror is to strike back with strength and to strengthen our hold on our land.”

In fairness Netanyahu has admitted that his forces' efforts to keep civilian casualties to a minimum in Gaza has been "not successful" despite the 'precision targeting' by the morally sound IDF and they will 'try better' next time so that's great. Ah well shit happens we march on, not like the British or American governments give a shite anyway it seems and once Hamas are eradicated they will obviously rebuild Gaza and treat all the people from there as their equal.

Is this really about the Palestinians or is it about some warped version of David versus Goliath? Do you think that the Palestinians are better off with a continued cycle of violence that will last forever? The increased level of Hamas violence over the last 20 years and now the 7th October has only sealed what is happening to the Palestinians.

The violence has to stop because of the realities of the situation. The best thing for the Palestinians is for Hamas to surrender and this will result in an immediate end to the hostilities. The international community then must round on Israel and use diplomatic means to push for some form of Palestinian state that coexists alongside Israel.

If you don't believe that this should happen then what is your solution? Even if it's the stronger party, why is it that Israel should unilaterally stop and accept a suicidal army on its doorstep that is willing and clearly able to kill Israelis?

Only a third of the IDF missives have hit the “safe zone” southern Gaza. There’s plenty of scope for improvement.

I know we're talking of saving people from themselves but at least they aren't executing gay people as they do in many countries in the middle east.

Hamas must be quite progressive in Gaza, they only put you in prison for being gay.
