Liverpool (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Thought you controlled the match but it all felt a bit flat.
Doku was a constant threat and was good to see him take on players instead of passing back.
Felt second half both teams were happy with the point. Which can’t blame to much. Liverpool definitely stronger this year but can’t see anyone for the title other than city.

I'm pretty positive after that game, we were class. One long range shot went in for them, but they didn't really have anything else.

Akanji looked good in that inverted wing back position.

I think dias goal should have been allowed, but it is what it is. Let's hope we don't lower ourselves to liverpools level of writing letter etc. We're better than that.

Still the best team in the land and all the world!

last season we beat Arse away, Chelsea away, Pool home and now we unable to win any of these, strange.
2 points only from 9 vs 9 out of 9 points last season.

overall we are worse of fixture to fixture by about 4-5 points.

today we were piss poor front of goal apart from the goal from Haaland, not enough power to break through, nd Alvarez literally had his worst game imo. not much help off the ball from him and hardly did anything useful going forward. big chance was missed by him too.

complete flat game and knowing our record at Anfield of shitting the bed, at least at home we should have had bit more urgency to beat them.
Nunez, Salah had very flat game as well, so it wasnt a very dangerous Pool today either.

3 points was there for taking same as vs Chelsea and we couldnt manage it, bit worrying to be fair, nowhere near enough urgency or killer instinct. wondering if can put Spurs away next game or even them with all their injuries are good enough for a draw at Etihad.

for the role of Alvarez Pep needs to come up with something better solution. imo its not working. Foden also needs to deliver more.

its fucking hard as we have Gundo gone, KDB still out, while Kovacic and Nunes imo aint real great additions. neither makes our best eleven if they do they dont add any goals or assists from middle of the park where we used to have lots of it last seasons.

Pep not making any subs said it all.

our results vs decent clubs is very poor overall.

we only beat Castle at home, and a horrible United team away, lost to Castle in Carabao, lost to Arsenal, and two draws vs Chelsea, Pool both games we were in lead and threw it away.

we need to get better but cant see how until at least we have KDB back and we need a firing KDB back which is probably 3-4 weeks later from the time he returns.
I agree on one point in that we aint got a gundo replacement...both Nunes and Kovacic in that sense are strange buys....both decent players but nothing like Gundo and not at his level.

Nothing was getting on the side foden was against avarage defender

Always take a point if it's a tricky game after an international break, especially with all the injuries we've had. Performance was a bit disjointed and flat so a point against them lot is fine. 12.30 KOs are always strange, nobody is ever up for them, so anything could have happened. With all that in mind a point is fine.

Think you can tell from the lack of subs that Pep didn't think Lewis, Gvardiol, etc. were fit enough either. Liverpool themselves were flat too - when they nicked that equaliser I thought they'd go on and win it but they just switched back into second gear and didn't push. Both managers will go away happy enough.

Thought the Akanji/Alisson/Dias thing was soft but fair enough - Akanji has impeded him unfortunately and we'd want it given our way of that was Matip on Eddie.

We'll be ready for Spurs next week.

A draw is disappointing considering we were leading with 10 minutes to go and we had a great chance to go 2-0 up seconds before they scored. Our form in the reverse fixture is poor so we really need to be beating them at home.

The lack of options from the bench is definitely hindering our ability to see games out or have a late surge as evidenced against Arsenal and Chelsea. Stating the obvious but we are badly missing Kevin's creativity.

All that said, we are still top of the league (well, for a few hours at least) so we can't complain too much.

A couple more positives: the injury to Stones is obviously not as bad as first feared and Rodri managed to avoid a yellow card meaning he is available for what will be another tough game against Spurs.

Attwell in VAR! The man who re-wrote the offside rule for Utd against us in front of our own fucking eyes - how many times is this **** gonna be allowed to fuck us over ?? I know he doesn’t do it but Pep needs to call this fucker out - Klopp would do it !
