Such a shame. Didn't realise he was 80. Seemed a great bloke and character. Great memories of Euro 96 and what a fantastic tournament/summer that was. He more than played his part in that. RIP.

It's not that often, funnily enough, that a good player transitions to being a good manager. The one doesn't follow from the other. El Tel was both. Very good memories of him both on the pitch and off it.

What a great bloke he was. I remember him well as a footballer and as a Manager he always tried to play attacking football and probably the best I`ve seen England play when he was at the helm.
Lovely bloke IMO.
