now for Rock of Gibraltar
It was Franny sat with the his Mrs and the Colin's familyI just watched the short video back and it was Franny. His illness had obviously affected his speech badly but he was talking about how much the statues looked like them.
Good point and well made but it was always Bell Lee and Summerbee, there were others like Oakes, Doyle and Pardoe at least they have added the names of the teammates to the plinthIt's a lovely statue and a great tribute to the three of them, but I'm still a bit miffed that Neil Young continues to be overlooked whenever Bell, Lee, and Summerbee are discussed or celebrated.
Born in Fallowfield less than half a mile from Maine Road. Came through City's academy at age 17 (unlike Bell, Lee, and Summerbee who were all signed from elsewhere). Scored two goals to beat Newcastle and win the First Division title on the last day in 1968, scored during the Ballet on Ice and was the top scorer for City during that title-winning campaign. Scored the winning goal in the 1969 FA Cup final. Scored in the 1970 Cup Winners Cup final. Played more games for City than Kompany and Aguero who both have statues (and Lee, for what it's worth).
I know Young and City fell out but that was yonks ago. We've gone through about 10 different chairmen and have moved stadium since those days. You think they'd be over it by now, which means that sadly he has just been forgotten about. Big shame.
The video was very moving...Until my last breath, I'll remember these guys .
Anyhow, when's the Denis Law backheel artwork arriving?
It was moving. I watched them play many times. It was a fabulous era for the club. We played some glorious football. So proud of these boys and proud of my football club. The video was very moving...
No it was Franny.Yes I`ve seen it but it looks as though the person speaking had had a stroke as his mouth was lob sided and I never read anything about him having that medical problem.
Perhaps it was Franny.
Don’t need a statue for pep. Let him stay another decade then name the stadium after him!
I think it's made from fibreglass?? @GaryJames will knowPretty sure the Bert one is made from cardboard
Need to see it in the daylight, can’t see the likenesses at all in that picture. So currently underwhelmed.

So a bit like Dec and Ant then? ;-)
I'm expecting 115 statues all along Joe Mercer wayWhen we beat the PL charges we should get a statue of Khaldoon using documents as toilet roll.
