Blue Moon Playlist Review Club - Season 2 - Episode 32 - threespires - Could have been a Contender (pg 472)

Glasgow is a Shitehole - Slime City

So far this week, we have heard Americans, the Irish, and Australians lamenting over Glasgow. Now we get the local take..

.. Rob is in the bar for a bar fight, Journo's in the bar for a bar fight, Doogle's in the bar..

I already have a Memphis Spotify playlist given frequent customer visits required for work. It of course includes @Mancitydoogle's nomination of "Memphis in the Rain".

Next to that one, I'd choose this:

Darryl Worley - Messed Up in Memphis

(it used to be in Spotify, but unfortunately it currently is not, so the live version from Texas Hammer there will have to do, but I'm giving credit to Darryl whose song it is)

This song stays in my head more than most any other.

As we approach the weekend, any volunteers for next Monday (the 11th) to put forward a theme?

I can always come up with something (I have an idea) but obviously it‘s not long since I did one so if someone else is keen…

Yeah, I have a couple in mind as well if all else fails. I'm sure there ard a few with ideas that haven't been up yet that are being polite. Monkey-tennis theme springs to mind! We may see closer rotation longer term though, fair point.

Alternatively, given the next round is exactly 2 weeks till Christmas, maybe nobody sets their own theme, and we just post Christmas songs (perhaps alternative or personal), and restart after that with someone setting a theme. Although there are a couple threads for that already that resurface every year.

If the ruling is the locations don't have to be in the song title, then...

Old Crow Medicine Show - Wagon Wheel (multiple locations, and the state in question is all in the song)

If not, I've got another of course. :-)

song co-written by Bob Dylan and Ketch Secor (of OCMS). Dylan recorded the chorus in 1973; Secor added verses 25 years later.

I don’t want to speak for stoneblue, but I interpret it as the place name in the title.

I asked this twice. The way I read it, it was in the song, rather than necessarily the title. But everyone else seemed to be doing it so I went with it just in case. Nearly there now so no point upsetting it at the end.

The one I put forward today doesn't actually mention the place in the song, it ia just the title.
