What has the UK become under the far right influence?

“The only reason robots aren’t used more in hospitals, for surgery in particular, is that the Wifi can’t be guaranteed.”

Not strictly true - they can’t afford the car parking either.
I’d assume they’d park in the roof. (Providing they’re made if that crumbly concrete)

Yeah, totally agree Alan.

On the topic of AI taking away jobs, people say "No, heard the same before when we invented XYZ. New industries were created and people work on new jobs instead". That of course is true - that's what has always happened previously.

But this is ENTIRELY different. Never before have we ever invented anything that will be able to do the new jobs as well. And do them better than humans can do them. Inevitably, IMO, this is going to lead to mass unemployment. And even if my assertion is not true, the huge scope of jobs being lost, means it's difficult to imagine how enough new jobs could be found to employ everyone whose current role is no longer needed.

Graphic designers, gone; programmers, gone; accountants, gone; company directors, gone; supply chain planners, gone; buyers, gone; teachers, gone; doctors - largely gone; engineers, gone, architects, gone. I struggle to think of any activity that does not need touchy-feely or manual skills that will not be massively impacted.
That’s an interesting list; I’d always considered my own profession, primary teacher, as relatively “safe”, given the significant amount of pastoral work / care that we (increasingly) do. But, if as seems likely, AI can be taught to be sympathetic/ empathetic etc, the game’s over.
What would be left? Women’s football? No robot could ever replicate that shite.

It’s still a disgrace to charge your employees to park as well as charging the infirm and their relatives. It doesn’t even go to the NHS either.

I know, private company takes it all out the back where i work, used to be wards that were knocked down,to make way for profit .

coming home or like today on a day off.

i was commenting on other people i work with, unlike your joke/bollocks reply about parking.
My comment was meant to be lighthearted as I’d seen how shit your work is in the other thread.

I agree,my trust sold the land near where i work a good few years ago now,its a private company that bought it and now fleece staff. Its just another sad thing to get annoyed and upset about.

I used to work for a logistics company that distributed for Richer Sounds. One Christmas eve the orders for stores were still flying out from the office at around 5:30pm (Finishing time).

Now you could see the offices from the warehouse and they had a tree up were supping ale and just shoving anything that came off the fax through the picking window, I stood there watching them all for about 15 mins before I decided to just leave to go home and leave the orders.

It was at that point I realised that in this particular company if you worked in the warehouse you were expendable, Richer Sounds didn't get the stock they needed because of the arrogance of this certain distribution company.

Paying for it by non dom tax and other tax dodges should alleviate some of the tax burden left by the current Tories.
Dreaming. That will make bugger all difference.

If Labour want to spend significantly more than the Tories, they are going to have to tax everyone even more, or borrow more. And they have said they won't borrow more to fund day to day spending, and in fact opposed Liz Truss proposing to do so.

So in reality, Labour will spend a tiny bit more and introduce stealth taxes to pay for it, since overt tax rises are vote losers.

Fine upstanding employee that you are. Suggest you don't put that episode on your CV.
