Luton Town (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Tough watch and that pitch looked awful, ball was bobbling all over the place.

Good to see us winning having to show some resilience, as that seems to have been questioned over the last few weeks

Not the prettiest game to watch, but nice to see us win the ugly way now and then

Kept possession in midfield much better. Still think we move the ball too slowly. Luton able to get 2 defensive lines back behind the ball far too often.

That 2 footed jump tackle, should have been a red card but for woeful ref/VAR. Standard of ref/VAR is so inconsistent. Palace player sent off for 2 yellows yesterday. The 2nd was never a yellow but then they were playing Liverpool.

Not sure what was wrong with Bernardo's foul throw. Still 3 points is great to have. Just hope we get another 3 against Palace. They've been a bit of a bogie team for us at home.

Cant say it was enjoyable. Result was what it was about today!! Back to the old days, all the ball and most of the chances and we concede to the oppositions first real shot against the run of play.

Least we turned it around today so credit there!! Were a mile off still for me tho!!
Need to defend crosses against big forwards better, bit of a weakness in the air at the back

Thank fuck for that, we deserved the win but it was much harder than it needed to be.

Kin hell, between Ruby giving them free kicks for fun in the last few minutes and some dodgy ‘ball in the fridge’ tactics at the death we’ve ground that out.

Just what we needed, a win by hook or by crook, onwards and upwards blue boys.
WTF was Bernardo telling alvarez to kick it out on that free kick? Just gave it straight back to them.

Better work ethic and effort. Thought Walker wasted in first half playing so high and not getting ball at all. Maybe I’m not tactically astute. Monkey off back and media will have to calm down a bit. Still issue with our bench as if nunes is the only “game changer” we have a problem.

Battling performance...you cannot question the application or desire of this side...and we deserved the win

The midfield issue is still there....Kovacic just doesnt add enough and hence why Rodri is struggling more. Kova is a decent player but at the moment he aint where Gundo was and nowhere near it.

Thought Foden (he is so good at receiving the ball on the half turn -better than anyone else in the squad) played very well as did Bernardo Silva....

The other area of concern is the fullbacks....Gvardiol isnt stopping crosses into the box and his passing out from the back is suspect at times (and its supposed to be a strength of his). He is also getting caught in behind him - he is only young and is arelady a good player so he will learn and improve.
Walkers form has fallen off a cliff and even defensively he looks unsure - dont know if its the pressure of the captaincy but will afully fit squad I think Pep would resort to the 4 centre backs options and Walker would be dropped.
Ake played very well however.

Still big improvements to go but we got a result where Arsenal didnt nad have caught 3 pts up on them, put 3 more pts between us and the rags and kept the points distance between us and the scousers to a minimum....Think its going to be tough to retain the title and we will need some luck with injuries and hope KDB comes back the same player he was. But as Pep would say...we are there and we can still challenge and upto new year that is what is important.
