Luton Town (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Good performance. Luton were allowed to kick and pull and stud and drag us all over and the ref just stood there letting it happen. We fought back hard and fought back the proper way. No problem with Luton making it a physical game but it's up to the ref not to endanger the players and he failed in that task - Foden's gonna have a nasty gash on that leg. A bit rusty in places but we battled and exerted our dominance. Considering how much Liverpool and Arsenal struggled there, three relatively comfortable points shouldn't be sniffed at.

Played them off the park, and for once it didn't come back to bite us on our arse. Good 3 points, up the fuckin blues.

It's games like that where Bernardo really shows his value and quality in this team.

Imperious performance, he was everywhere.

Thought we were in control of the game and played much faster in our tempo.

Luton is a dreary place though isn't it?!

No you’re not. You are complete gobshites who whinge and slag off players every fucking time we don’t hit the heady heights that your spoiled brattish entitled behaviour demands. We have got the best team and the best manager, but who are going through a relative rough patch. We have just come back off a treble winning season and also won the super cup. Don’t try and justify it because it is absolutely fucking PATHETIC

You know we won right?

Yes, he is getting caught more often with the opponent goal side, largely because the forwards give it away cheaply, and he’s instinctively taking one for the team. Today’s tug was needless as there was precious little threat from there.

To the letter of the law it’s a yellow but how many Luton players did similar and got away with it. Brown and Lockyer could have been booked 3 or 4 times each. Very inconsistent refereeing.

Say we were leading 4-1 when that piss poor challenge on foden happened would there have been a different outcome compared to the 2-1 at the time unfortunately we will never know but I’d hedge my bets on a red card if the game was done so to speak ..
It was Little Luton against those nasty bastards City, no way was he getting sent off but not getting a Yellow was very fishy indeed

That was a very big win and City's first goal was a crucial goal going forward, City looked like a team that was under pressure and players just wanted to pass the ball on to the next player and panic snatching at the ball when shooting.

I said to my lad at halftime, all it takes is a goal even if it comes off the backside of the player or an own goal we just need something to go our way, A very good finish from Silva and Grealish sort of got us over the line after a dodgy referee being controlled by the Luton fans,

I think it's good we have a sort of free midweek game in terms of already being in the Champions League knockouts. So we can field a 2nd string 11 and blood some more youth and Phillips may even get minutes.

In real time you couldn’t tell exactly what had happened so I can’t blame the referee. But as plenty have already said what is the actual point of VAR if they don’t recommend a red card and get the referee to review it?

All the points I'd have made are already here.

The one I can't let go is the foul on Phil - how he escaped serious injury is beyond me!! VAR looked at the replay and couldn't see a red - I wonder what the decision would have been had it been Rodri???

Top ranting Blue

Miles the better team, defended their set pieces well and showed great character to get back in the game. Tough game down there as Arsenal and Liverpool have found, but time to kick on now.

False nine....welcome back my dear friend, THIS IS THE WAY! Our defending up front without Haalaand is 90% more efficient and productive.
I would continue this formation for the rest of the month. It can only get better as the players go back to the old days. The only way to shift this kind of defence. Alvarez rescued his poor performance with that face block.
Gvardiol really good going forward and this pairing with Ake on the left works.
And Foden just keep proving he needs to be somewhere in the middle. Just abandon shifting him to the wings.
