Luton Town (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Why do people always say inconsistent refereeing. It is the complete opposite. Every time we are screwed.
Exactly, that's why such a big deal was made of the Rodri " handball " to get that decision fixed in people's heads so they can have something to point at. One decision a few years ago to justify all the dubious decisions week in and week out against City and in favour of certain teams too.

I'm really glad this game is over and relieved it ended in 3 points for us. It is a small tight ground and is therefore difficult to pass through a team but we showed real determination to play our football and we did it well. We're not at our best but it was certainly a far better display than we gave on Wednesday, even allowing for the difference in the opposition. They are a hard running, physical team and , remembering their games against Liverpool and Arsenal, I thought they would provide us with a stern test. In the end, I won't say it was comfortable but we restricted them to 2 efforts on target (one goal!) and two off target (one shot straight at Ederson, and one wide from Barkley). Their goal was well made and well taken and I can't point to any obvious mistake by us. But we still played our game and it always seemed that goals would come - and they did! Hopefully the start of a winning run for us in which we don't concede late goals. Well done, Blues.

Worse than Sky's halftime assessment that Luton's lead was "thoroughly deserved".
Half time stats.... you couldn't make it up, oh wait

Ake’s goal against Fulham, Kovacic not getting sent off against Arsenal.

Personally I just don’t buy into the they’ve got it in for certain teams view and are doing so deliberately, you wouldn’t have the awful decisions that have gone against others if that was the case.

It’s more that they are showing incompetence in virtually every game.
Fuck me you are scraping the bottom of a very very deep barrel if that’s the best you can do.

Vital win today.

We sat with the home support and I am struggling to describe them without using a politically incorrect term. I’m not sure I’ve encountered a crowd that complained about every refereeing decision that went against them (Scousers?). The ref actually got most decisions right.

We had a close view of a lot of the action and it was interesting seeing some of the touches and movements of City’s players. A different perspective to sitting on Level 3 of the Kippax.

Luton were a tricky little banana skin due to their tight pitch. Technically they were limited but they were aggressive, quick and reasonably well organised defensively.

City played well, not great.

Kovacic is getting back to his early season form. Gvardiol is going to be some player, there’s a lot more to come from him.
Luton fan caller to 606 radio 5 stating the referee today was biased towards City. He asked Sutton and Savage if they agreed. They didn't.

Great win today!

Foden on the half turn is a joy to watch

Jack had a good game but why have so many touches before having a shot? The amount of times he gets his shots blocked for taking too much time is unbelievable. It is almost like he lacks the confidence to take it first time
With Villa he was asked to keep the ball and draw the foul. Pep encouraged him to do the same when first here. Now hard to give that up?

I thought he was OK today
Is the correct answer. Hopefully after a rocky spell he will be that reliable presence as and when required. He gives a nice edge in midfield with his desire to run past a player or two to get us on the front foot.

Rodri was noticeable for this too especially second half.
