President Trump

I hope you are right - and you may well be - but I am far from convinced. I had not realised just how unpopular Biden has become amongst the less well off. Whilst the Dow Jones continues to soar and the well-healed are doing quite nicely, just like the UK, millions are really struggling with high energy costs and inflation and the incumbent is blamed for all of it. There's also the unappealing prospect of re-electing someone who looks like he's well past his sell by date. He wiil be 82 years old, only days after the election, and goodness knows how much less able he would be 4 years after that.
They got the highest growth and lowest inflation of the G7, much of it down to Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act.

Sadly, the least well informed are often the poorest in society and voting for Trump would most certainly be against their best interests. But he makes it ok to hate immigrants and brown people and so they happily lap it up.

Another reason Brexit was a shit idea.

In sure the usuals would be frothing at the mouth if the treasury decided to move from Dollars to Euros as a consequence of the US voting in a fascist.

Countries are seriously rethinking their relationship with the US should it occur.

Trump is desperate for Hayley to drop out as it plays into his political persecution narrative and he has some terrible days in court coming down the tracks.

If I was a never Trump Republican I'd be desperate for her to keep going as the New Hampshire result was pretty good and with the civil fraud trial soon to reach verdict the gap could close. She's a long way of being in a place to win but putting up a good fight and being a credible alternative would put her in a good position if Trump gets locked up at some point before November.

Trump and team know this. They dont want any credible alternative. They want a Trump or civil war mind set to ramp up the pressure in court.

I've seen various commentators suggest she will pull out soon. I don't see why she would but then there will be plenty going on behind the scenes. She's not going to serve in a Trump government so what's in it for her.
Lets not forget that Haley has stated that she would pardon Trump.

Now more than ever we need a united Europe, we have been to complacent and relied on the yanks for too long.

Her best path to winning is becoming the default next option if Trump is jailed and ineligible as an insurrectionist.

So yeah she will have to keep saying that and other things she won't believe in to keep on that path.

What she does in office may be different.

IF she takes office I can see a reset. She'll be a traditional GOP president.

Lowering Taxes of her mates and finding an excuse to bomb Iran rather than the proxy of Yemen.

Standard presidency.

Not president of the world. Their standing and influence diminished hugely after he was in last time. Collective shaking of the head from countries round the world at his ineptitude, and a knowledge that he is wholly compromised, means that nobody wants to have deal with the US anymore. No credibility.
Might not be president of the world but as long as the US has the world’s most powerful military by an order of magnitude compared to the rest, he might as well be as far as US influence is concerned.

You mean another politician lying their arses off to attain power?

They’ve not even remotely started campaigning yet. I can’t believe the odds I’m buying up.
I just took a look and saw that I can get a massive 25/1 on a any party other than Republican or Democrat winning the election. They'll get plenty of takers for that, I am sure.

Or how about Dwane Johnson becoming next President? 66/1.

What planet are these bookies on? Or more to the point, the people who would place any such bet?

If Trump fucked off the Republican party and created his own how long do you think 25/1 would last?

She might not be Trump but she’s still a Republican. Truth, promises and facts are just some kind of leftist illusion to them.

If a GOP candidate claimed the sky was blue, I’d stick my head out of the window to check.

350/1 on betfair, tucker with a punchers chance at 509/1.

True, but state Governors can pardon state felony convictions.

New York state is a Democrat, Governor Kathy Hochul. Georgia is a Republican, Governor Brian Kemp. Kemp has vowed to support Trump if he wins the nomination. Don't put it past Kemp to pardon Trump if he's convicted.
In Georgia convicted felons are allowed to apply for a pardon only on condition that "You must have completed all sentence(s) imposed upon you at least five (5) years prior to applying and have lived a law-abiding life since the completion of your sentence(s). You can have no pending charges against you. Your fines must be paid in full." (Per Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles).

If Trump gets convicted in Georgia he's going to jail and nobody can legally pardon him until 5 years after he completes whatever sentence he gets.

I hope so.

Unfortunately, bettors have been rather more accurate than pollsters when predicting election outcomes; and even if seeking solace in polls, there's none to be had.

I'm cautiously optimistic that bettors have this one wrong, and that a (hoped-for) Trump felony conviction coupled with (hoped-for) introduction of abortion rights measures into the 2024 ballots will tip the outcome in Biden's favor; optimistic but without great conviction.
There’s a reason you never see a bookie at the bus stop.

Clarence Thomas is utterly compromised, and should be nowhere near any judicial rulings involving anyone named Trump. Gini Thomas was pretty much in the trenches with the Maga clan during the whole Jan 6 debacle. How she has so far managed to escape any legal scrutiny is beyond me.
Does SOTUS have to vote unanimously or will a majority vote suffice? I’ve seen conflicting reports.
