Jill Roord ACL - Docu about her recovery P4.

A disaster - will be about 6 months out. Jill has the uniquely extra quality that compliments others, I am gutted for her. I know it was perhaps an accident but the way Zelem and Parris were diving into tackles it was clear they targeted our best players - gits.

It would be a risk to just go with Coombs and Angeldhal alongside Yui for the full second half of the season. We are now one injury away from having to cobble together a midfield. This could possibly derail our chances of winning the league or qualifying for the CL. Will be interesting if Nielsen reacts with a replacement, if we are to mount a serious challenge we need to buy someone pronto.

Above all I hope Jill recovers well for next year and beyond.

Devastated. Surely we’ve got to get a replacement in because we’re light as it is and Roord is so important to our game.

I’m
Interesting Kaz , there is a study looking at why more women than men statistically have this issue. One thought was that hip width might be an issue I think anyway there are some studies happening.
Good to know it is being looked into but doubt anything can be done , unfortunately

I'm not surprised, I immediately thought that when she got injured the other night, her stoods caught in the turf, and her leg twisted badly as she went down. Hope she gets her full fitness back as quickly as possible.

Terrible news for both her and us. Good luck for your recovery Jill, you are most certainly going to be missed.
That's three people out now, one with a serious injury and two left for pastures new. We are a little sort on numbers now.

Hope she makes a full recovery. It’s a disaster. We have let Blackstad and Castellanos go too. We are very light on numbers.
You're right, it is a disaster. She has been fantastic - but makes no huge difference about Blakstad and Castellani's going as they were nowhere near her level.

Maybe the low numbers means we can get someone in before deadline on Wednesday.

I haven't seen any rumours of new players arriving whilst I agree Blackstad and Castellanos were not at the same level they were actually bodies to bring on. Wednesday isn't far off, looks like we will be set for the rest of the season with the players already here.

Thats right. My daughter is studying this at Loughborough University at the moment and she told me it's women's wider hips that creates a different angle to the knee to men and causes greater stress to the ACL. This combined with the increased amount of fixtures at elite level is causing problems. The only way to reduce the risk of injury is to reduce the amount of fixtures they play.

Oh no. I’ve just read this. This is a sad day for her and a huge loss to City. Hoping for a full and speedy recovery.

I think this is one of many theories being looked into at the moment. Female athletes and footballers in particular also haven't been exposed to the same kind of strength building work that their male counterparts have from a much you get age.

Another ACL , rife amongst women players

It’s a horrible injury that according to initial medical studies is related to a women’s hips and the angle at which the femur comes down towards the knee which naturally makes the knee ligaments more susceptible to injury than a man.

Talk of women’s specific boots etc won’t help I don’t think.
