Savio | Joins City

Jack Grealish is good enough for City but he's definitely worried about game time right now. It's about too many players in the position, not about the quality of the player. Savio could slot into City right now, easily, but it's about whether there are enough minutes to go around for all of the players and the answer is there is not.
Grealish has mostly been off the boil since his boozing sessions started after we won the 2023 title. What's transpired this season is self inflicted imo, as most of his performances have been uninspiring.

We need to be bringing in starters, not projects alongside Bobb & Doku, hence why we should be looking at the loan market if Savio can't regularly start ahead of Oscar & Jérémy.

That would be unfair to all of them, unless two were earmarked for the left (Grealish/Doku) & the other two for the right (Bobb/Savio).

BUT what to do with Bernie, Foden & KDB? All three would expect to start in our biggest matches. \0/

Girona have been up, come down and gone back up. Had a few players off us over those seasons. They are having an incredible season to be fair.

Troyes got relegated and seem to be struggling again. They and Lommel seem to get very little from us player wise and I think Troyes fans must question why they are in CFG.
On the contrary, Troyes got an absolute boatload of players through the CFG.

Most turned out to be rubbish though.

If Troyes receive €30-35m for Savio, they will have made as much on one transfer as they entire current squad is worth. For a player they would have had no chance of getting if they weren't part of the CFG. They've been in the gutter these past few years, but who's to say they'd be better off without the CFG.

That list is hardly an endorsement ;)

Not sure I would like it if it was City when we were shite

Lets hope Troyes can do a Girona.

He’s got 2 more league goals for city than ferran torres did. Ferran played 43 total, scored 16 times Jack has played more than twice that amount, 113, and scored 14! That is fukin shite nevermind the £100 million price tag. Anyone thinks that’s a decent return hasn’t a fukin clue. He’s great at running across the box and falling over.

Think Jack will be fine tbh, clearly has a skillset that doku/savio dont have and vice versa.

Bobb learning to play out and out on the left is probably a bigger threat to him imo. (with the system as is, can see it changing again looking at the rumoured target list)
Grealish down the middle when KDB slows up?

Spot on part of me knows full well that we've always known exactly how good Savio is he's been a heralded future star since 14/15, people in Brazil have been more aware of him then Kayky prior to Kayky actually breaking through.

I think our owners have purposely looked at Troyes and how terrible they've been and knew they needed major help, so they purchased Savio someone they knew would at the very least double Troyes money on which in the short term hasn't helped right away. This investment though will help prop them up when he's sold so if anything this transfer is exactly what they needed long-term, with what they get they should able to comfortably build a team to help them promote and could be mid table Ligue 1 team within just a few years, if they spend the Savio wisely enough they might even be able to challenge for UEFA Europa places.

France has lots of bargains about so around £30m is more than enough for them to build a great starter squad to prop them up, when they promote they'll also no doubt get the benefit of getting some of CFG"s finest young talents too, it's obviously a bit frustrating for them struggling where they're but they need to be a bit more patient.

It’s certainly not beyond the realms of possibility that there’s a role a bit deeper for him if we are looking to change tact on the wings and look to be more aggressive.
He’s most definitely good enough.

Think he runs well with the ball and would get lots of fouls as they always chop him.

It’s his ability to keep possession in tight areas and find an out ball which impresses me the most. He tends to do those runs inside and tgen inevitably fouled when other options dry up.

What I can't understand is why Troyes let Savio go out on loan?
You'd think they would want to hold on to their players.
Its akin to us sending DeBruyne out on loan.
Is it that they didn't realise he was as good as he has turned out to be?

I doubt anyone thought he’d do so well this season. With Troyes in division 2, maybe he was sent to get top level football in the hope they could sell him on?

A theory, not fact!

I don’t think the CFG had any intention of letting him play for Troyes.

Why would a division 2 French side loan a player to a top division Spanish side?

Clever money management I reckon.

It won’t have been by accident. Our guys know what they’re doing.

I agree entirely. My point was just that I think Savio has shown he could be a regular first teamer for City based on this season, but that he would probably be worried about playing enough. The other poster said if Savio might be worried about that, he probably isn't good enough yet and I completely disagree. I'm sure Jack is probably pretty unhappy with how infrequently he's playing this season compared to before -- there just aren't enough minutes to go around for everyone, so really good players will miss out. It doesn't mean they're not good enough to play regularly.

Savio will be bounced out on loan to get the CL experience from Girona it seems just moving him to our books incase his stocks rise again.

What all these daft articles i keep reading are missing is that not in 1000 years would Troyes have (1) spotted Savio or (2) been able to sign him and (3) had the money to sign him without CFG. However with CFG and him being on their books they will be pulling in €20-€30m pure profit which they can then reinvest in their squad. That goes a long way in Ligue 2
