President Trump

As @Trevor Morley's Tache has referenced, he is a master manipulator. How is that not a form of intelligence? It plainly is. It’s intellectual snobbery to suggest otherwise.

It doesn't take that much intelligence. Most people wouldn't manipulate others due to morals not because they lacked the capability.

If you go through life like that you aren't rewarded with healthy and meaningful relationships. Something more valuable than gaudy tacky gold plated penthouses and private jets.

There are plenty of nefarious people in the world. How come they ain’t grifting millions of people. If at was as straightforward as you suggest, then Trump wouldn’t be discernibly more successful than any one else at it.

He’s a sociopath and possibly a psychopath - why is he going to be remotely interested in healthy and meaningful relationships? They are an anathema to him.

It’s now been two weeks and no appeal yet from Trump on the Carroll case.

His lawyer has filed a motion (and it is awful bullshit) to try and give them an extra 30 days before enforcement of penalties in the fraud trial because… errr… we’ll they didn’t actually give a reason. They just complained that the process was moving too fast but didn’t state what an additional 30 days would actually achieve. They also tried to move the official addresses of 6 of Trump’s businesses to Florida. Which is hilariously transparent.

These are definitely the actions of a billionaire with $450m dollars sitting there ready to appeal these unjust verdicts… definitely not just trying to delay for the sake of delay because they can’t actually pay.

I’d put a strong bet down that neither of these cases are getting appealed.

I think the huge wealth he inherited might have given him a head start. How would a person of modest wealth carry out catch and kill operations. He's a ruthless sociopath but he ain't that bright.

He still seems to want approval from family and partners.

The wealth he inherited is definitely a factor but simply cannot explain everything.

Wanting approval is not the same as a craving (or appreciating) a meaningful relationship.

Because they weren't gifted $400M or whatever to start with. Amazing how some people will kiss your pucker when you have $400M. And then if you're him you think, "Hey. I have $400M. I can do whatever I want to or with them by pretending I might give them some money."

That's the literal answer. Everything stems from that.

It actually simply can. After that it's a question of moral code.
Then the logic of what you are saying is that every single person who inherits (inflation adjusted) £400m, and who is so inclined, can manipulate tens of millions of people. Every single one.

Why aren’t more of them doing it, given they are so inclined?

Fully agree.

His lawyers were not up to the trial - an appeal requires more legal knowledge and ability.

Also this just happened yesterday.

It's rubbish, as far as I can tell. I don't know why it's being raised.

He clearly included South Carolina because that's where he's campaigning. It's over 400 miles from Washington, and no bomb has that much range.

Because most people don't have that ruthless selfish attitude?

There's usually no need to be ruthless **** when you come from wealth, it's why people like Fred Trump, and Maxwell spent lots of energy bullying their children.

People with more humane and compassionate upbringings are less likely to run cons or traffic young girls for paedophiles.

I think you grossly underestimate the corrosive effect that power and money has on people.

And citing Maxwell’s children to support your argument probably isn’t the most effective example I’ve seen you deploy.

I'm actually not saying that really, but yes, theoretically.

And the answer to your question is: because they have moral codes.

How many people do you know who would hire a piano tuner to tune the twenty pianos in his New York hotels, then not pay him, then tell the tuner he was going to spend whatever it took to countersue him if the tuner sued to collect?

Plenty, but then I’ve dealt with a lot of dodgy cunts over the years, so you’re probably asking the wrong person.

Why isn't it?

Ghislaine was a charming and persuasive socialite at university. Admired by George Monbiot, until he realised the cynical networking she was really up to.

If Maxwell wasn't such a disgusting horrible bastard would his children have developed the way they did?

If the sons still had huge wealth they'd be much more dangerous.

It's a lack of moral character not intelligence.
