There's a 2-hour or so documentary (or actually two such) by Frontline exploring Trump's life and that of his political opponent for President in minute detail. Frontline airs these shortly before each US Presidential election. The latest one, about the 2020 election:

It's 2 hours and is likely far too long for most people - but it's compelling viewing and well worth your time. The previous Frontline about Hillary and Trump was equally fascinating.

Anyhow - Trump is quintessentially, existentially unable to admit defeat. And this makes him a fighter.

Watched this yesterday with a lovely bottle of red. Superb viewing although it doesn’t tell us anything particularly new (except the inspirational figure that is Neil Kinnock!). The longer the documentary went on, the more I found myself feeling a sense of utter disbelief- how did this fucker ever become POTUS?

Friday 1st March there was a hearing before Judge Cannon to fix the date of the documents trial. Predictably, she messed about, nothing was decided and several issues were not even discussed. Trumps position changed from offering an August date for the trial to:
— We should wait until Scotus decides the immunity question
— Several other issues need to be sorted first and any trial would be election interference.
— A trial before the election would be unjust, but if the court rules it can go ahead, we prefer August.
Cannon ruled that she will consider the matter and rule later!!!
The evidence against Trump is overwhelming and his only defence is the Presidential Records Act which is no help at all.
How lucky to have a Judge in your pocket, as well as SCOTUS. Just appoint the judges you need to get off anything. Learnt that trick from City at CAS.

I suspect that if she rules on a big delay then Jack Smith will appeal and ask for her to be removed. He might as well take that shot.

If she goes with an August or September trial that Trump's team asked for then that might be a play to use this trial to block the jan 6th trials. That's a risky plan as although Cannon can control the sentence, she can't stop the blatant evidence of Trump's deliberate BS plan to steal and hide the documents. Its not great having that all come out just ahead of the election. And a sentence of no jail time would go straight to appeal.

No. In the swing states, many republicans will abstain or vote Trump. Independents too will not vote for him. He lost all those states last time and there is no evidence that he can increase his vote there.

Now there's a take.

The obvious counterpoint is that the USA's current system is flawed not because of democracy but a lack thereof in crucial domains. No PR, the most extreme two-party state in Western politics, lack of independence in the judiciary, lobbying, campaigns guided by corporate interests.

But getting people to see that this is the issue is nearly impossible when those corporate dollars are telling you the exact opposite.

I hate Trump as much as anyone, but this one was never going to end any other way. It was a unanimous decision. Didn’t even need his stooges to get the result he wanted. Don’t worry about it. There’s much bigger fish to fry than this one.

Where does it say that I want trump to win ? He problem is people like you live in a glass bubble where you see what you want to see happen in the world and any truth is called negativity . As for Ukraine I said a year ago that Ukraine will never get the donbass back and in the end there will have to be talks to stop he war but not once did I say I supported putin just that I was negative towards Ukraine actually pushing Russia out and guess what if you actually bother to watch an impartial news coverage you will see that the war is now panning out the way I thought . As for the USA do you honestly believe that Joe Biden will be allowed to even stand again because I don’t Go back in your little happy bubble fella where you can make your own stories up .

It’s an interesting take as you must have estimated that the Republican Party, driven by Trump, would withhold funding to Ukraine, leading to the current situation where Ukraine has the people but not the weapons.
