The British Monarchy

We have had good kings and bad kings and the same can be said for queens, however we have always had a vocal minority of whingers who want rid.

It isn't happening.
With the Queen dead, most people don't have the same emotional attachment to the royal family as they once did. All it takes is one huge scandal, which this could very well end up becoming, and the whole thing comes tumbling down.

I personally think the royal family should've ended with the Queen's death. The Queen was a symbol of pride for the British and a commendable character and the best way to honor her death would've been to end the royal family with her the final monarch. Now can the same thing be said about the descendants of the Queen? Absolutely not.

The facade of a royal family only works if the members are committed to embodying the moral values and responsibilities associated with their status. If the King is no longer somebody that my children or grandchildren can look up to, then all the whole thing comes crumbling down.
Why are you bothered about it if you're a yank, or chosen to live somewhere they don't affect you? Most Brits are happy with the situation of having a parliamentary monarchy. It works in other European countries such as Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg and also Japan, plus lots of smaller nations.

You absolutely don't know that at all, we had a King who was a Nazi sympathiser and one who humped every showgirl in the country, then came Lizzie.

Just because you have a feeling based on an emotional bias or a poll collated by Monkeys canvassing Asses doesn't make it true.

As I said it isn't happening.

I'm not bothered at all. I just believe the idea of a royal family is antiquated and does not belong in the 21st century.

scandals have the opposite effect when it comes to the Royal Family.

That's just what happens when something that has been in existence for a long time comes to an end. People probably said the same after Victoria, George III and Elizabeth I. George's son and heir was hugely scandalous and only reigned for 10 years yet it all survived.

It's posh coronation st that always gets its season renewed :)

Yes, much better that they vote in a fascist, misogynist, narcissist, rapist, crook.
Wasn’t suggesting that they should have voted differently.

I was merely referencing the bloke with obvious cognitive issues who won 51% of the vote, rather than the fake tan bigot who got 47% of the vote.

Clearly, against that backdrop, people in the UK discussing a photograph appears to be a much bigger issue for somebody that doesn’t even live here.

The un edited photo.
How do you know and what’s the difference?

One of the points raised was the lack of wedding ring(s) and Charlotte’s left hand, but I’ve no idea what’s true and what isn’t anymore with the quality of editing tools and the use of AI, deep fakes, and the like.

Over here, the Presidential election is reportedly already producing deep fakes, including “footage” of Biden saying things he didn’t say surfacing on the RWNJ social sites. Try putting that genie, and its resultant narratives, back in the lamp!!!

Heck, the Republican response to the SOTU speech last week included an old story of a woman in Mexico from the time of Bush’s presidency, but they “manipulated” it to supposedly reflect an “illegal” immigrant story about Biden’s border policy and issues!!!

So, in the grand scheme of things, a little photoshopping of a family pic isn’t a big deal, but when you’re living on the public purse, you might want to lead with a little openness, honest and transparency!

Fair enough, you would have a minority view over here.

For me, I don't think it really matters to the ordinary person in the UK. You are either ruled by rich hereditary people or rich, politically motivated, power hungry people. The deciding factor for me is the history of the monarchy, I find it very interesting, and I wouldn't want to be a part of bringing it to an end.

And also, the "right to bear arms" is pretty antiquated too and doesn't belong in the 21st century, all countries have these anomalies, but I doubt that will be changing soon.

Whoever released that picture is in a lot of bother, unless it was William or Kate themselves. It was a silly mistake to make.

Kate apparently publicly apologized already.

He took it, she edited it. That’s todays story.

Meanwhile, wtf has been wrong with her? Is it so bad to say she had a hysterectomy (or whatever) and needed some time to recuperate or is it that she’s getting about 5 times as long to recover as your average NHS patient and private industry worker?!

We just don't know, for all we know she could be very poorly. Only time will tell mate.

Look again, closely.

She's passed away and is being impersonated by Megan Fox.

I'm looking forward to the state visit of Joe Biden (played by James Woods).

Harry Enfield is on standby to replace Charles if necessary.

I’m sure a lot of the conspiracy stuff about the Royal Family/Kate Middleton is nonsense, but they’ve certainly done themselves no favours with that heavily photoshopped image they put out earlier. Talk about fanning the flames!

The photo sellers are certainly bullshitting that they don't deal in manipulated images. Do people really believe that no pictures whatsoever in the media are photoshopped or changed in some form or another?

The only difference this time is the pictures were changed before they arrived at the seller and the changes are too obvious to ignore.

This is just a non-story created by the people whose job is to sell non-stories.
