England v Belgium | Friendly | Match Thread

Let’s wait and see how he develops. He’s achieved nothing yet.

20 years old.

Bellingham was runner-up to Pedri of Barcelona in the 2021 Kopa Trophy, awarded to the world's best under-21 male player as voted by previous winners of the Ballon d'Or.

His performances earned him the Bundesliga Player of the Season award.[59] Having finished as runner-up two years prior, Bellingham won the Kopa Trophy in 2023 in recognition of his performances over the 2022–23 season for Dortmund and for England in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He became the first Englishman to receive the award, which was presented at the 2023 Ballon d'Or ceremony in October.

Bellingham scored 10 goals in his first 10 matches for Madrid, equaling Cristiano Ronaldo's goal tally after his first 10 games for the club in 2009.

Bellingham became the first player to score in each of his first four Champions League appearances for Real Madrid in a 4–2 victory against Napoli.

Bellingham was named winner of the Golden Boy for 2023, an award made to the best male under-21 footballer playing in the European top divisions over a calendar year.

As I said so far his only significant honour is one German Cup. Let's wait and see.

Why not be excited at what we’re seeing from him ?

Madrid didn’t pay €103 million because he might be good. They paid that because he is already world class.

What was Haalands significant honours before signing for City ?

And Messi got the top award above Haaland last season.
These awards mean as much as Putin winning the Russian elections when they are awarded to the media darlings.

As the kid of an ex-footballer, I hope I was the exception that proves the rule. I can only imagine Steve Kinsey’s Dad was an ex-player, based on his attitude when I was at City with him. (I expect someone will now tell me what a great guy he is!) :-)

P.S. Rodri is world class humble, on and off the field. My current favorite City player.
I still can't get over the commentator saying Bellingham is currently the best player in the world in a world with Rodders and Kev. Fucking lunacy but that commentator is defo a rag ****.

Pickford
Walker Braithwate Maguire/?
Stones Rice
Bellingham Foden
Saka. Grealish
Kane

Madison, Gordon and Toney super subs.

Why does Plodder always need someone else alongside him in the middle? Is it because he is not all he’s cracked up to be? Fernandinho and Rodri were/are capable of doing that job on their own.

I don’t think it’s just that commentator

All English based media outlets. Regardless, there is no doubt Bellingham is exceptional. Best in the world… not sure about that. I still put him a level below Phil. But you wouldn't think Phil is anywhere near him listening to the media here.

No it's just our rancid media. Only an idiot would put him in front of Kev and Rodri.

Henry Winter in The Times gave Phil a 5 v Belgium, and Jude an 8.
Is he the only one who rated Phil's performance that far below Bellingham's?

Both class, world class and both top young professional lads that represent our country- just a shame some people live in bitterness and want them to fail.

some just need to let go of all the tribal bollox
without all the tribal bollox football supporters wouldn't exist, there wouldn't be football forums, you'd just sit there happy clapping both teams not giving a fuck about who won, the tribal bollox is what makes you support a certain team, long live the tribal bollox

Agreed, all for that but of course I’m talking when it comes to national team - outside of social media and forums real fans come together and support England. That’s the main thing.

Bellingham was shite until the goal at the end

In fact the only time Bellingham looked semi decent in the game was when Phil went more central and got the team putting some passes together and got Bellingham involved
