It's stupid, self-indulgent, hapless and myopic management. Displays all the ineptitude of a Sunday league manager dragged into the job because nobody else will do it.

We have managed John Stones very carefully this season for a very good reason. Ledley King was able to have something of a career because those around him realised he needed very careful management. These are things utterly lost on Southgate.

International football is the equivalent of a workman letting you borrow his tools for the week to do some DIY. Southgate misuses the tools and returns them broken.

Considering people (Neville) say that Foden has been the best player in the PL and that England should build the team around him he doesn’t do much. Compare that to Bellingham and it’s quite noticeable

Foden is stuck out on the left, generally doing doggies to help out Chilwell. Bellingham has essentially been given a free role as a no. 10 with zero defensive responsibilities.
It’s as plain as day that Bellingham should be playing deeper with Rice and Foden should be the 10. But Southgate hasn’t got the balls for it.
