City launch legal action against the Premier League | Club & PL reach settlement | Proceedings dropped (p1147)

View attachment 121259

When has football EVER been a level playing field? Silly ****
Stupid rag **** wants to ask which clubs were the driving force behind:
The ending of shared gate receipts in the early 80’s
The Heathrow agreement sharing TV money in the mid 80’s
The first threats to break away from the Football League
The formation of the Premier League
Formation of the all powerful G14
The expanded Champions League
UEFA FFP
PSR
Project Big Picture
Behind closed door meetings to form the European Super League

No doubt I’ve missed plenty, but you can guarantee if there’s any ‘reform’ proposed by United or Liverpool, it will be to restrict competition and benefit themselves.

Two ghastly cheeks of the same arse.

We have probably signed some sort of agreement with the PL not to speak publically. The story has probably leaked from a rival club rather than the PL. Both sides have to be very cautious now about anything they say ahead of court. A chunk of our case revolves around the lack of integrity shown by rival clubs' with their statements. We must not do what we have accused them of doing. We can do our talking in court no matter how frustrating that is for fans and for all our sponsors.

We've seen with Everton and Forrest that they released statements and they shaped public opinion against the PL and us!!

They can just state facts.

But the club stays silent and the dickheads in the media then fill the void with a load of shit which every other fan believes.

Citys image damaged further in this country.

Is "legal action" allowed as a term?
GDM has built a fascinating career on pissing on our Hollywood film and LA Law understanding of the profession.
He was at it again earlier and I'd hate to add a further faux pas

Of course the club can make a statement.

Everton and Forrest did and it shaped public opinion against their charges and punishments.

The PL were seen as the bad guys.
Not sure we could even make Hitler, Stalin or fucking Pol Pot be seen as bad guys compared to us.

The social media morons are misreading this as City wanting to have an unfair financial advantage, when in fact, we don’t want be unfairly penalised. This is what the fools don’t get, why should we roll over and allow four clubs to be in cahoots with football’s governing bodies to restrict reasonable sponsorship that would be allowed at other clubs? They’re trying to tie weights to our feet and this is most likely linked to the ‘115’ as if we receive a footballing punishment, they want to make it as hard as possible for us ever to rise to the same position of power. It’s clear and orchestrated and all of it is linked in my eyes.

Corrupt to the core, bring on the independent regulator.

Those social media morons believe we cooked the books from day 1 and don't seem to recognise the fact we have won the fucking lot and dominated football over the past 7 years hence make a lot more in prize money, have a huge global fan base and can attract substantial revenue.

They don't seem to have an issue with Arsenal or Spurs earning a fuck load when they have won fuck all.

No point wasting time on those cunts.

Fuck the Scum clubs and their Premier League, Declare a breakaway League proposals with fair rules for all clubs and better TV deals with internet companies
That's the red scouse fan idea, breakaway and not include City. Scared of competition, fans would desert them if they ever graced 3rd tier again.

We should be challenging absolutely everything.

I wonder what the journos would think if the majority vote in PL ( mostly US owners ) continued the self preservation mantra and voted to end promotion which they would all do in a heartbeat.

Would that be democracy ?
I’ve been shouting about this for a long time - get City relegated & change the rules so they cannot get promoted.

I think some of the stuff about this being an existential battle between City and the PL is a bit hyperbolic. We’re just challenging the change to the APT rules that was introduced in February, as it was reported that we would do at the time. If we’re successful then the rules will revert to how they were prior to Feb 24. If we lose then we’ll just have to work within the new guidelines.

The ECJ has already ruled that football is a special case and normal competition rules do not apply,
The same rules need to apply to everyone though. The rules introduced in 2021 only target overselves and Newcastle.

i have been having fun on twitter with this argument

If our sponsorship deals have been inflated, then haven't they done well out of them. They have sponsored a team that has won the treble, achieved 100 points, won 4 PL TITLES in a row and done the domestic treble, signed marketable superstars and are a global brand. For sponsors that is a win win scenario. They get to associate themselves with success.

Other teams sponsors will have put lots of money into sponsorship deals and seen the team they have sponsored finish mid table with a leaky roof, a crap manager whilst being millions in debt. These sponsors associate themselves with mediocrity and decay.
Absolutely this. Also, in innumerable cup semi finals and finals, involved in last day of the season dramas (even when winning it at a cantor we got 100 points). Arsenal, on the other hand have not won the PL for 20 years, rarely qualify for the CL, rarely reach Wembley, but get £50M a year to have Emirates on their shirt (I know, Emirates..). They then get another £10M a year for having Visit Rwanda on their shirt sleeves. Fair value? Maybe but that would put the value of this current City incarnation at Christ knows how much, relative to that.
