I think the F.O. spokesman said the UK side mentioned it during a routine meeting but the UAE side expressed no interest in it.
That's my recollection - an internal discussion which did not involve the UAE.

The scoucers? Standard - they got compo for pushing a wall over. They’re demanding compensation because we’ve be accused of something?
Which paper do you write for?I'm no accountant, aint got a clue
Could you ever imagine the Echo not defending Liverpool in their paper if they were in the same position as us. The muen are a disgrace. They have joined in with the rest of the press and run really negative articles, all the time, about City and the charges. Bring back Stuart Brennan, even though he used to go and watch United in the eighties at least he reported fairly on City and defended us all the time. What a rag infested joke that 'newspaper' is. City get a fairer hearing in the fucking Echo.
Don’t know to be honest but he is very well connected at Liverpool. Like most others, he hates us with a passion.Wasn’t he the only journalist/media that led with the Liverpool hacking though?
See my later posts. It was actually the FO talking to our UAE Embassy, as another poster reminded me. My post here is a little erroneous. That's my recollection - an internal discussion which did not involve the UAE.

Premier League clubs 'demand £1bn Man City response' over 115 charges
Manchester City could receive an astronomical compensation bill from rival Premier League clubs if they are found guilty of breaking the ruleswww.manchestereveningnews.co.uk
Bring on the Euros so the football reporters can warrant their ridiculous salaries actually talking about football instead of pretending to be experienced lawyers, pissing me off now to be quite honest.
And I'm never buying a Dominos again!!
Overpriced shite. Our takeaways pizza at the bottom of our street is nicer and a quarter of the price and they don't take the piss out of City.Boycotting Dominoes! Cardboard overpriced imitation pizza. No hardship.
it was reported as a discussion between two different arms of the UK government. The usual wet wipes presumed it was a discussion between the UK and UAE authorities. The coverage really does smell like that now. The favoured few are being fed lines from the PL or Club Directors so the narrative will become "City were saved by Government interference." It is a very orchestrated campaign against City. This sort of coverage doesn't happen by accident.
I presume the Ziegler story is based on getting no comment (during an election period) on a question like: "Have the Government mentioned City's case to anyone in the UAE Government" This is a classic way to fabricate a fake news story. A bit like the old saying: "When did you stop beating your wife."
No true blue should ever read the MUEN. It’s utter horseshit.
It is a fabricated story and Ziegler must know what he is doing. He should be ashamed. This sort of click bait fake news damages the Times’s brand.it was reported as a discussion between two different arms of the UK government. Ziegler would know this very well, and for me it's a deliberate misrepresentation.
Good point but his fairly recent financial court victory against I think RM being CEO of the AD construction company shows he can legally prove as well as talk.Hope he’s not bluffing.
Further to that - it would be pretty strange if the UK government didn’t have a conversation with its embassy in a country which was a major investor and one of its major investment groups had been charged with fraud.it was reported as a discussion between two different arms of the UK government. The usual wet wipes presumed it was a discussion between the UK and UAE authorities.

Those PSR clubs need ransacked by City before the red cunts get in.Think this will keep going until the Euros. Then those PSR clubs start sweating. Then once the team get knocked out the press will blame a single player. Then it's full strength United winning the community shield v our reserves. They'll claim they'll win the league like Arsenal and Liverpool did and then we get to work.
It is a fabricated story and Ziegler must know what he is doing. He should be ashamed. This sort of click bait fake news damages the Times’s brand.
Liverpool - Sponsored by a bank that funds terrorism, launders money, breaks international sanctions.
Media reaction - Fine and all above board, great that one of our renowned chartered banks is linked to that fine football club.
Arsenal - Sponsored by a country with appalling human rights abuse records with atrocities such as arbitrary and illegal detentions and genocide.
Media reaction - Fine and all above board. Great to see a "developing" country investing in such a renowned football club. The government are returning that investment by offering people who entered our country after fleeing oppression from their country of origin safe haven in such a beautiful country that Rwanda is. And all for free.
Manchester United - A club over £¾ billion in debt, majority owned by a family who have taken out far more money than they have invested into the club. Minority owned by a British multi billionaire who has dodged paying tax to this country by a loophole that allows him to save £4 billion per year.
Media reaction - Nothing wrong here, great to see a British person investing into such a renowned football club who we fawn over no matter what
Manchester City - bought by wealthy Sheik Mansour, Sponsored by a prestigious renowned Airline, owner has invested millions of pounds in regenerating a very socially and economically deprived area of Manchester transforming it into a thriving, money generating area for the local and national economy.
Media reaction - cheating bastards, state owned and funded by dirty oil money. A pariah to the Premier League, The FA and UEFA. Should be relegated, titles stripped and fined. This club should be wiped from the face of the earth for the good of the game and not be mentioned in the same breath as those other fine upstanding clubs.
I have defended Ziegler before. He has led the way with leaks from the UEFA and PL investigations. They have all been legitimate news stories. If people leak stuff it will be reported. But that Foreign Office story is just bollocks. You are correct though. It confirms how low the media has sunk.Only by those who know what his motive is. Sadly it's lapped up because it's telling people what they want to hear, so in their eyes the brand only gets better. Especially when he's backed up by so many other disingenuous journos etc.
