Could you ever imagine the Echo not defending Liverpool in their paper if they were in the same position as us. The muen are a disgrace. They have joined in with the rest of the press and run really negative articles, all the time, about City and the charges. Bring back Stuart Brennan, even though he used to go and watch United in the eighties at least he reported fairly on City and defended us all the time.

it was reported as a discussion between two different arms of the UK government. The usual wet wipes presumed it was a discussion between the UK and UAE authorities.

Ziegler would know this very well, and for me it's a deliberate misrepresentation.

I stopped reading it regularly years ago, as it had become clickbait nonsense. The actual design and layout of the site is gbh of the eyes, before you even get to the drivel written on it.

I still see the occasional article and can't get over how a local newspaper can be so obviously negative about one of it's main clubs. The Liverpool echo is more partisan than a fanzine in its support of their teams, which isn't a great look, but you would expect the local paper to at least not look to stick the boot in at every opportunity and add further fuel.

Further to that - it would be pretty strange if the UK government didn’t have a conversation with its embassy in a country which was a major investor and one of its major investment groups had been charged with fraud.

Only by those who know what his motive is. Sadly it's lapped up because it's telling people what they want to hear, so in their eyes the brand only gets better. Especially when he's backed up by so many other disingenuous journos etc.

My absolute favourite example of the hypocrisy involved, was that bizarre banner at the Emirates a couple of seasons ago. I can't remember the exact wording, but it was having a pop at 'oil money' and referring to their history. A banner, in that stadium, bemoaning Middle Eastern investment, that wasn't a parody... Wow.

I have defended Ziegler before. He has led the way with leaks from the UEFA and PL investigations. They have all been legitimate news stories. If people leak stuff it will be reported. But that Foreign Office story is just bollocks. You are correct though. It confirms how low the media has sunk.
