City launch legal action against the Premier League | Club & PL reach settlement | Proceedings dropped (p1147)

They do but as La Liga reasserts itself as the best league in the world PL revenues will decline and the Yanks will get less dosh.
Thats the issue for them. They want a closed shop..salary cap so they can make returns each year and the value of the 'franchise' goes up. The problem is the US sports have no competition (NFL/NBA/MLB) the prem would fall behind other leagues again. This is self destruction of the product.

The premier league was on the cusp of grinding the other leagues into dust after covid. Instead to stop City it has eaten itself.

The Connor Gallagher situation, regardless of opinions about him as a player, is everything that's wrong about the current Premier League rules.

Clubs used to try build their teams around players that came through their academies. Now they're the players they're having to sell them to comply with some nonsensical rule. No genuine football fan can think that's right.

Normally I’d agree but given the sheer volume of players and amount they’ve spent on them, I’ve not got much sympathy with Chelsea at all tbh!

Nail.on.head.

We don't own every company in the middle east either.

But it's irrelevant even if we did. Loads of clubs have been sponsored by companies with links to owners, both in the past and now.

If the sponsorship is at fair market value, who cares?
Nobody was arsed when Ashley changed the name of the ground and stuff like were they, apart from the Geordie’s obviously.
Scruffy Jim will be itching for the British taxpayer to spend £billions changing the name of that dump to the Ineos shithole, and so will the glazers so they can put half of it in their bank, in the Cayman Islands obviously.

Does that mean City can sell the new hotel in the future, and any additional hotel or building City build on the Etihad Campus in the future, and use that money for the club? ;-)
